    Job Description

    PURPOSE OF POSITION:

    To assure Foster Farms maintains a competitive advantage in the area of packaging costs through contracting and procurement practices, resulting in the maximum return of shareholder investment.   

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    Direct, manage, and oversee all packaging/purchasing functions to meet daily business requirements in contracting and buying at all plants. 

    Provide leadership and direction to staff in an attempt to meet or exceed departmental annual objectives.

    Minimize acquisition costs for packaging through a multiple supplier competitive bid process, contract negotiations and operational implementation.

    Develop, maintain and implement cost savings initiatives across all aspects of the business.

    Prepare and monitor annual, quarterly, and period reports to help inform the business of materials purchasing changes. 

    Support Marketing, Sales and Operations in product changes by meeting implementation deadlines and minimizing material write offs. 

    Direct and manage all groups to become more strategic within their given area, bringing greater value to the company and instruct and encourage professional advancement

    Assist the Purchasing Department in improving the functionality of our MRP buying system by working with staff, field buyers and IT for efficiency gains.

    Qualifications

    REQUIREMENTS:

    Degree in Business Administration or related field, MBA preferred

    Must have minimum five-seven years in-depth knowledge and experience with flexible and corrugated packaging and experience in direct materials procurement

    Strong analytical and negotiation skills, supply chain and material planning practice, supplier and stakeholder management, inventory and risk management

    Experience in contract creation and knowledge of business law

    Strong leadership skills with minimum three years supervisory experience

    Strong understanding of SAP system and strong understanding of CPG
