    Job Description

    PURPOSE OF POSITION:

    Provides leadership and management of Strategic Capital Project and delivers financial benefit as a result of contracting for best value (competitive bid and/or negotiations).  Bids/negotiates strategic contracts resulting in maximum benefit to the company.  Manages as an individual contributor while ensuring contract compliance and procedures are followed in support of the company’s internal and external requirements.  Manages data in support of detailed financial analysis, cost performance metrics, budgeting and planning.  Exhibits leadership and project management skills, initiative and is a strong analytical/problem solver.  The position must be flexible and willing to adapt to changing business and environmental demands and work well with cross-functional teams. 

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    Directs, manages and oversees purchasing functions to meet business requirements in contracting and services and provides leadership, direction and procedure to organization and completes key Sourcing department objectives.

    Minimizes acquisition costs for materials and services while negotiating and managing the administration of bids, purchase orders, project execution to contract and long-term contracts coordination with the managing function that could relate to parts, maintenance and support/services of the capital equipment sourced.

    Challenges Operations staff to look at all aspects of a project (i.e. Total Cost Ownership (TCO), costs, quality, environmental, timing, etc.) prior to making recommendations and encourages change from reactive to proactive thinking.

    Drives continuous improvement, department performance and growth as an individual and as a cross-functional team leader.  Knowledgeable regarding Supply-Chain Management, Project Management Program (PMP), Six Sigma and lean methodologies.

    Provides management of Company Strategic Projects to meet business objectives and recommends the best Supplier(s), Equipment and Integrator for successful project execution and related purchases.

    Builds a multi-year strategy for Company capital projects that formalizes the capital project sourcing strategies and direction.

    Actively supports the Risk Management department to include advising on contractor insurance coverages, contractor safety, chemicals and generating reporting of all actions. 

    Proficient in the use of SAP, Ariba (Contract Management System) and Microsoft Office.

    Special Projects, as required/needed.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related field.

    Minimum five-seven years work experience in procurement.

    Excellent negotiation skills, knowledge of business law and experience in creating service and supply contracts.

    Excellent knowledge of MS Office applications: word processing, presentation, data base management

    Strong analytical skills, with proficient use of Excel.

    Strong leadership, project management and problem solving skills with demonstrated results.

    Strong communication abilities, capable of simplifying complex data.

    Knowledge of procurement procedures and strong accounting and tax knowledge.

    PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

    MBA

    Good understanding of Agriculture Industry 

    Broad knowledge of Capital Projects and strong engineering, designs and project management

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Ability to sit for long periods of time 

    Consistent and reliable attendance

    Ability to work in fast paced, high pressure situations

    Flexibility and prioritizing workloads effectively while being able to attend off-site meetings

    Ability to travel periodically
