    Job Description PURPOSE OF POSITION:

    To provide leadership and management of company’s Live Operations (Materials Repairs and Operations (MRO)) and Co-manufacturing buy spaces and deliver negotiated savings, efficiencies and capabilities. Individual is responsible for the comprehensive management and development of Live Operations and Co-manufacturing category spend and related Capital Projects. This includes supply integrity, supplier management & optimization, contracts, risk mitigation, market assessments, sustainability opportunities, and budgets. This individual will be responsible for the outsourcing of production and management of co-packers, co-manufacturers and toll processors. In addition, this individual will be providing purchasing support for contracting, sourcing, identifying alternatives, ordering and logistics.

    This position will negotiate strategic contracts resulting in maximum return on investment; manage a team of buyers and purchasing assistants and ensure contracting compliance and procedures in support of our internal and external needs. Individual will be required to manage data in support of detailed financial analysis, cost performance, investments return, formula costing and budgeting and planning. The person in this position will positively contribute to the Company’s sustainability and profitability, recognize and deliver annual cost savings through continuous improvement projects, regulatory management, inventory cycles, and costs reduction through the elimination of waste while ensuring that the premium quality products require are available to our customers as needed at a highly competitive value.

    The role requires leadership, project management, initiative and strong analytical/problem solving capabilities. Looking for someone that can be flexible and willing to adapt to changing business and environmental demands while working well with cross-functional teams. This individual will serve as the operations lead and primary supply chain lead for all outsourced commercialization projects. Individual would develop and support business justifications, contracting and negotiations, and lead the implementation and management of any outsourced production/packing. Will be a strong project manager and will oversee all aspects of product commercialization from inception to delivery.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    Identifies new co-manufacturing/co-packing sources, assesses and tracks capabilities with in alignment with Quality and R&D, coordinates with the internal Innovations team to build business justification and co-manufacturing strategy.

    Manages assigned new product projects, liaises between manufacturing/ operations/R&D/ engineering, finance, sales, procurement and marketing. Evaluates make vs. buy scenarios.

    Develops launch plans and commercialization time lines; executes launches as indicated by the commercialization roadmap. Defines escalation process and implements co-manufacturer/co-packer within the business end-to-end: evaluates and designs supply chain, negotiates agreements and costing, establishes internal ERP requirements and process, etc.

    Manages all aspect of co-manufacturer/co-packer relationship and coordinates activities with internal stakeholders: contract administration, performance, audits, quality, cost/rates, procure-to-pay, etc.

    Drive continuous improvement in process or production efficiency, supply chain optimization, deliver cost reduction, and manage the co-manufacturing/co-packing discipline in compliance with Internal Controls and Best Practices.

    Research regulatory requirements, supply or contract issues, and make necessary improvements ensuring Foster Farms remains in compliance and at best advantage.

    Responsible for the comprehensive management and development of category sourcing and procurement strategies and supply plans for MRO that drive cost reduction and usage optimization

    Develop and complete Price Mapping/Tracking, financial forecasts, thorough market analysis, strategic purchasing plans, budgets, reporting and risk assessments.

    Initiate, develop and manage requests for proposals & quotes, evaluate benefits and provide financial analysis, create and author contracts, and negotiate terms for Live Operations MRO, Capital Projects and other areas as requested.

    Provide purchasing support for ordering and budgeting for Live Operations. Plus assist in the budgeting, planning, financial justification and acquisition of various products required for our hatchery and ranch facilities. Support business units as needed.

    Select and evaluate suppliers. Establish performance guarantees for customer protection based on specifications; implement Supplier Management tools for buy spaces

    Supervise & manage direct reports. Develop and ensure company and department policy compliance with respect to role responsibilities.

    ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

    Manages innovation-testing protocol in conjunction with R&D, Quality and Engineering

    Pro-actively communicates any changes in the internal commercialization process to product management team

    Ensures smooth and timely exchanges of information and clear understanding of priorities and expectations among commercialization team members.

    Maintains product commercialization schedule and chair stakeholder meetings to gain go-no go decisions on projects from project sponsors.

    Document and Implements best practices and cost reduction

    Supports Brand Maintenance Initiatives – including scope refinement, performance, process improvement

    Supports other initiatives, business priorities as assigned and special projects

    Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    BA/BS Degree: Engineering or Business (or similar)

    5+ years of Purchasing with both material management and risk management of commodities or parts, or operations experience in food manufacturing, or 10+ years’ experience working with innovation process or co-manufacturing in CPG environment

    Proven success managing innovation process from inception to release

    Strong financial acumen and excellent project management and influence management skills to lead cross-functional teams.

    Experience managing new product commercialization processes

    Experience developing, drafting and negotiating contracts.

    Ability to manage multiple projects and have continuous improvement mindset.

    Highly collaborative leadership style with the ability to lead effectively and handle conflict in cross-functional integration role.

    Experience managing and evaluation co-manufacturer/co-packer.

    PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

    MBA or ME strongly preferred

    Lean -Six Sigma certification preferred

    Production or Packaging experience in CPG environment

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Must have consistent and reliable transportation

    Must be able to travel overnight

    Must be able to work in fast faced environment.
