    Job Description

    Purpose of Position:

    The VP of Engineering will manage and direct corporate engineering and construction management for the company. The VP will lead a team to design, build and coordinate implementation of large-scale capital projects throughout the organization. Safety will be the primary consideration in design and implementation of all projects including contractor safety during construction.  

    Essential Functions:

    Be the strategic leader and engineering resource for the company.  Direct the planning for future capital projects including infrastructure upgrades, equipment and product changes and new construction.

    Lead continuous improvement efforts across all business lines by working collaboratively with VP of Operations, VP of Sourcing and COO.

    Direct and manage construction management staff to ensure timely completion of infrastructure projects.       

    Oversee implementation of new technologies for maximizing efficiency.

    Provide strategic input and direction of maintenance and engineering efforts to ensure operations reliability consistent with the needs of the organization.

    Lead plant managers as they develop and execute their CAPEX budget.  

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    A degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering with a broad amount of technical knowledge in those areas.

    Ten to fifteen years’ experience in a Plant engineering or central engineering department, food-processing background preferred.

    Minimum 10+ year’s management experience preferred with demonstrated ability to lead and motivate large teams and manage subordinates fairly and objectively.

    Experience in departmental administration, budget initiation, cost control and project management. Demonstrated strong financial acumen.

    Developed knowledge of UBC, APCD, NEC, Fire codes, OSHA and USDA requirements

    Computer literate including MS Office, MS Project.

    Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Regular and consistent attendance is required.

    Ability to obtain CA driver’s license and obtain reliable transportation

    Must be able to travel overnight and by plane.

    Ability to work in a food processing type of environment, to include being able to work in restricted space areas and be able to inspect and evaluate equipment and space at low and high levels, this may include climbing
