Job Description
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Performs a wide variety of planning and reporting tasks supporting the overall material planning of $250mm Direct Materials spend on ingredients and packaging. Material Planner I will manage suppliers or categories within the total spend of $250million. Must be comfortable with critical thinking, daily decision making and judgement calls on Foster Farms behalf.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Analyze MRP data and manages PO requisitions and purchase orders to support the manufacturing plan. Will manage suppliers or categories within the total spend of $250million.
Schedules, expedites and de-expedites orders per red lights keeping relevant individuals and departments advised with respect to delays and lead-times on critical material or products
PO and Exception Report management to include issue, update as needed, confirm and close all purchase orders ensuring accuracy per Master Scheduling
Ability to run, fully comprehend and analyze reports making recommendations including forecasts, supplier inventory report analysis/VMI
Identifies shortages and expedites through proper channels including Planning Lead and Sourcing Manager, advises Stakeholders as needed
Material management from cradle to grave including evaluating safety stock, confirming demand planning is pulling through correctly, evaluating increase/decrease requests in existing business for marketing and being able to communicate dates back to the business. Tracking material transitions, management of excess and obsolete material and MDAs
Daily supplier communication including ability to gain their support by sharing our sense of urgency when needed
Direct Material Planning representative in meetings and with key stakeholders across the business
Work closely with Suppliers to ensure ingredients and packaging are delivered in a timely manner within budget to support requirements
Interfaces with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, Product Management, DM Sourcing and Suppliers as needed and schedules and leads weekly meeting with Product Management
Support Strategic Sourcing projects with buyers and purchasing agents. Essential part of sourcing team that assumes decisions on awarding business.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
Prefer one-two year’s business school or college, and strongly prefer Bachelor’s degree
This position can work a hybrid schedule of working on-site and remote
One-two years purchasing experience strongly preferred and have minimum one to two years Material Planning experience
Computer literate in Microsoft Office and strong understanding of SAP resource platform, and must have a strong understanding using and creating MS Excel spread sheets, including formulas, in order to manage detailed information.
Proficient in other Planning and Purchasing modules
Demonstrate strong interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills and have strong analytical skills
Must be comfortable with critical thinking, daily decision making and judgement calls on Foster Farms behalf and make quick decisions to avoid plant shut down
