Starting $16.00 / hour - 20 hours per week

As part of the Foster Success team, the Health & Well-being Intern advances the organization’s mission
by ensuring teens and young adults have access to a continuum of Health & Well-Being programs and
resources as they transition out of foster care. The Health & Well-being Intern serves as the point of
contact for young people applying to the Mental health Acceptance, Promotion, and Support Initiative
(M.A.P.S.) and those seeking support & resource connections through the Basic Needs program. This
position works with the Basic Needs Coordinator and Director of Health & Financial Well-being to ensure
the smooth functioning of program operations and activities, including completing intakes for the
M.A.P.S. Initiative, connecting participants to our contracted therapists, completing needs assessments,
and resource connection.
This position will begin hybrid- in office/remote in Indianapolis and has the potential to be fully remote.
The Health & Well-being Intern reports to the Director - Health & Financial Well-being.
● Participant Support - Support M.A.P.S. Initiative participants in the process of obtaining mental
health care internally and externally. Complete intake process and serve as a secondary point of
contact for young people seeking support through 1:1 referrals and connections to community
resources in areas including but not limited to: Housing, Financial Support, Medical & Health
Needs, Self-Advocacy, and Basic Needs (i.e. food, hygiene items, etc.). Empower young people in
building long-term support networks.
● Program Administration - Support in the day-to-day operations of the M.A.P.S. Initiative and
Basic Needs Program. Review applications, collect required documentation, and connect with
young people in a timely and organized manner. Serve as a point of contact to review M.A.P.S.
applications and verify eligibility for the program. Provide input on system and process
improvement.
● Data Tracking and Reporting - Support in the administration of surveys, focus groups, etc. to
collect data on the efficacy of the M.A.P.S. Initiative and Basic Needs program. Update files in the
Salesforce data system on a daily basis. Provide support in the management of participant
databases and keeping up-to-date information.

● Working towards a bachelors or masters degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health,
Counseling, or other human services field from an accredited university
● Interest in the field of mental health or community partnership preferred
● Interest in working with young adults between the ages of 14-26 from diverse backgrounds and
the ability to create inclusive environments for participants and partners.
● Proven creative problem-solving techniques, openness to change and desire for continual
feedback, and an ability to adapt in a rapidly evolving environment.
● Display a strong commitment to the inclusion of all individuals in the workplace.
● Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in Foster Success Employment agreements and
the organizational Handbook, including all confidentiality requirements for all client information.
● Work a flexible schedule that includes some weekends and evenings to meet program goals.
● Hold a valid Driver’s License and have access to a vehicle or the ability to rent a vehicle for
work-related travel.
● Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills and experience with and knowledge of relevant
software, particularly Salesforce, Zoom, Google, and Microsoft Products.
