    Job Description

    Foundation Alloy is seeking a materials scientist to join our research and development team. You will be working closely with a talented and collaborative group of metallurgists to develop new alloys optimized for advanced manufacturing techniques. Your tasks will include:

    • Develop and test several classes of alloys optimized for superior mechanical properties and advanced metal part production
    • Design and execute experiments using a suite of characterization tools including X-ray diffraction, metallographic examination, and mechanical testing
    • Use cutting edge computational materials science to guide materials design
    • Invent new technologies, applications, and methods to expand Foundation Alloy’s toolset, capabilities, and competitive advantage
    • Shape and document development procedures to enable Foundation Alloy’s growth

    Qualifications

    • Doctorate in Materials Science and Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience gained outside of academia
    • Ability to apply thermodynamic and kinetic principles to Foundation Alloy areas of interest, including alloy design, powder metallurgy, and sintering
    • Ability to perform a wide range of materials characterization techniques to quantify mechanical, thermal, and other physical properties of metals
    • Experience with computational thermodynamics (CALPHAD) preferred
    • Results-driven mindset, strong communication skills, and attention to detail
