    Job Summary

The Nevada Recovery Friendly Workplace Initiative is a statewide program aimed to empower employers to implement recovery friendly practices within the workplace and provide support for employees in recovery or those impacted by substance use and mental health challenges. The RFW initiative promotes employee wellness by creating work environments that further the mental and physical well-being of Nevada's workforce; proactively removing the stigma of behavioral health and celebrating recovery from addiction in the workplace and community.

The Recovery Friendly Workplace (RFW) Ambassador is a crucial member of our RFW team. As an ambassador, you represent our organization and the program and act as a liaison between the community and the initiative. Working under the direction of the program director, the ambassador performs targeted outreach to employers, conducts trainings and presentations, and offers individualized guidance and support to participating businesses. Outreach to businesses may include cold calls and emails, contacting employees via LinkedIn, tabling at and attending community and chamber events, hosting online and in person orientations with prospective employers, and general professional networking. You will also assist the program director with organizing several planned events throughout the year and reporting on the outcomes of the initiative. Training includes the facilitation of the four-part training series developed for employees and senior management of businesses. Trainings may be held in person or online and customized to the needs of each business. Strong skills and a background in public speaking and delivering professional presentations and workshops is required for this position.

More About the Recovery Friendly Workplace Initiative:

1 in 3 people are affected by substance use disorders and there's an estimated 23 million Americans living in recovery. The majority are going to work every day and it’s important that Nevada employers are equipped to support their employees and celebrate recovery like any other chronic health condition. People in recovery are our staff, customers, friends, family, and members of our community. Today, there are over 27 other states with Recovery Friendly Workplace Initiatives. In Nevada, the RFW Initiative is a collaborative partnership between Foundation for Recovery, the Governor's Office, and the Department of Health and Human Services. Employers enrolled in the program work directly with an assigned RFW Ambassador who guides them through training, available resources, and tools to promote a workplace culture that supports recovery. Participating Nevada employers can receive an official designation as a Recovery Friendly Workplace through the Governor's Office. Learn more about the initiative at workplace.forrecovery.org

    About Foundation for Recovery

Established in 2005, Foundation for Recovery has built programs and partnerships to remove barriers for Nevada families and communities impacted by substance use and mental health disorders. Our success is attributed to a simple concept; expand community support services, empower local leaders, build capacity for authentic addiction recovery resources, and treat people who use substances with dignity and respect.

As Nevada's first and only statewide Recovery Community Organization, our philosophy is that those closest to the issue are closest to the solution. Which is why the majority of our staff, board, and volunteers who drive our mission are people with their own life experiences recovering from addiction and co-occurring disorders. Together, we uplift the voices of our communities and choose to focus on our strengths and talents, rather than our illnesses. This strength-based approach guides our vision for a world where resources, treatment, and support for addiction and mental health are abundant.
