Founding Mobile Software Engineer (React Native)

Our client, a fast-growing telehealth startup, is seeking a Founding Mobile Software Engineer to build and own the company's first native mobile application.

This is a foundational role with significant ownership. You'll be responsible for standing up the mobile app from scratch, making key architectural decisions, and defining the technical direction for mobile as the product scales.

What You'll Do

• ****Build and launch the company's first mobile application using React Native

• Own mobile development end-to-end, from architecture through production and iteration

• Establish scalable patterns and best practices for future mobile development

• Work across the stack when needed, contributing to a shared web/mobile codebase

• Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering to translate complex healthcare workflows into intuitive mobile experiences

• Integrate with native iOS/Android capabilities (e.g., HealthKit, push notifications, video SDKs)

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of experience building mobile applications, with strong production experience in React Native
• Deep understanding of React Native, including Expo, build tooling, and native module integration
• Experience working with native iOS and/or Android (Swift or Kotlin) when needed
• Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous startup environments (prior startup experience preferred)
• Strong product sense and ability to think beyond implementation
• Clear communicator who can explain technical decisions and tradeoffs effectively

Nice to Have:

• Experience working in modern full-stack environments (e.g., TypeScript, Postgres, Rails)
• Familiarity with shared codebases across mobile and web (e.g., React + Next.js)
• Interest in healthcare or mission-driven products
