    Staff Accountant - Restaurant and Real Estate Company

    Job Summary:

    We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team at a thriving restaurant and real estate company. As a Staff Accountant, you will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and assisting with various accounting tasks for both the restaurant and real estate divisions. The staff accountant will work with external bookkeeping and accounting firms and serve as the sole point of contact for internal accounting matters.

    Responsibilities:

    Financial Recordkeeping: Maintain financial records for both the IHOP restaurant and real estate divisions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and company policies.

    Accounts Payable and Receivable: Liaise with external accounting firm that handles day-to-day accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice verification, processing payments, and reconciling customer accounts.

    Budgeting and Forecasting: Support the development of budgets and financial forecasts for the restaurant and real estate operations.

    Cash Management: Management of all treasury functions and skillful management of the company's cash flow to ensure it has enough liquidity to meet its financial obligations while optimizing cash utilization.

    Financial Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate financial reports, including monthly profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

    Tax Compliance: Assist with tax-related activities, such as preparing documentation for tax filings and liaising with external tax accountants and consultants as needed.

    Inventory Management: Work with operations team to manage inventory management systems to track and reconcile restaurant inventory, ensuring accuracy and minimizing discrepancies.

    Month-end and Year-end Closing: Participate in the month-end and year-end closing processes.

    Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost optimization and revenue enhancement. Regularly monitor and compare actual financial performance against budgets and provide analysis for any variances.

    Compliance and Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and supporting audit documentation requests.

    Risk Management and Loss Prevention: Identifying and assessing financial risks that could impact on the company's performance. Ensure all third-party delivery sales & credits, credit card batches, invoices are true and accurate.

    Relationship Management: Engage with external service providers, franchisor corporate team, lenders, auditors, and regulatory authorities, to maintain positive relationships and meet reporting requirements.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

    • Restaurant industry experience preferred

    • Real Estate industry experience required

    • Proven experience (5 years) as a Staff Accountant or in a similar accounting role.

    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, GAAP, and financial reporting standards.

    • Proficiency in using accounting software and MS Office Suite, especially Excel.

    • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

    • Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.

    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various teams.

    • Knowledge of restaurant and real estate accounting practices is a plus.

    • CPA certification is advantageous but not mandatory.
