    Framatome Canada is part of the larger Installed Base (IB) organization within Framatome world-wide. The IB Unit is responsible for supporting operating commercial nuclear plants around the world with various products and services of a highly technical nature.  

     

    Framatome Canada provides the same highly technical products and services primarily to the Canadian designed CANDU nuclear reactors operating in several countries around the world.

     

    The Engineering Department within Framatome Canada provides engineering services to both internal customers (i.e. other Framatome Business Units) and external customers (eg. Bruce Power and Ontario Power Generation). The Engineering Department is responsible for delivering engineering products of all kinds (reports, calculations, designs, analyses, design change packages, assessments), ranging from single documents to comprehensive modification packages for complex design changes.

     

    JOB DESCRIPTION

     

    • Early Career Mechanical Design Engineer
    • Supporting projects primarily for Bruce Power, but may be required to support projects for any Framatome clients.
    • Performs standard engineering assignments typically in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks and resolution of field problems.
    • Receives assistance and instructions on unusual or more complex features and possible solutions, as needed.
    • Visit client’s sites (for example to perform field walkdowns and support installation activities).
    • Adhere to applicable Framatome procedures and quality program.
    • Work within client’s Engineering Change Control process.
    • Communicate and work closely with client stakeholders to ensure high level of customer satisfaction for engineering deliverables and service.
    • Contribute to the continual improvement of Framatome’s standards and effectiveness in the industry.
    • Ensures compliance with government, organization and customer engineering standards.
    • May independently evaluate, select and applies standard technical techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgement in making minor adaptations and modifications.
    • Works on special projects, as directed.

     

    Performs other related duties and tasks, as required.    

    Required Skills Required Experience

    ALL CANDIDATES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY.

     

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering completed by start date. Candidates with an advanced degree and/or experience may be considered for a higher level position.
    • Ability to comprehend and convey detailed technical data.
    • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong analytical ability and problem identification/problem resolution skills.

     

    THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS ARE DESIRED AND WILL BE USED TO DIFFERENTIATE ALL CANDIDATES WHO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION.

     

    • Previous Framatome intern or co-op experience
    • Previous industry experience, especially CANDU/Nuclear experience.
