    The Opportunity

    The Software Engineer position is within the Fuel Business Unit which is responsible for a broad range of activities including engineering code development and maintenance, verification and validation of models, user interfaces and automation, and optimization of neutronics, thermal hydraulic, and safety analyses. The software development activities are coordinated with other Framatome fuel engineering departments both locally and worldwide.

    What You’ll Do at Framatome

    You will be responsible for creating new or revising existing engineering software packages that are used to perform the engineering work which support our customer’s licensing analyses. Typical assignments include:

    • Work with multi-disciplinary teams to develop software and company products which support the design and licensing of Framatome fuel.
    • Program new or revise existing software based on technical and performance objectives of a project.
    • Perform licensing assessments for Framatome fuel design and methods.
    • Develop and benchmark models used in licensing assessments.
    • Interface with U.S. regulations to license Framatome reactor core design and methods.
    • Work closely with engineers to support software development and testing.
    • Actively participate in collaborative code reviews to ensure developed code is in compliance with Framatome quality standards.
    • Provide independent review and verification of software requirement, design documents and specifications with detailed feedback.

    • You have a high degree of understanding of the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of nuclear fuel engineering and know how to apply those concepts.     • Excellent communication skills (oral / presentation / written).
    • Proven ability to effectively communicate and coordinate activities among the diverse groups within Framatome and with customers.
    • Positive and effective team interaction skills along with positive peer relationship skills.
    • Demonstrated leadership and initiative in meeting customer requirements.
    • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple assignments to reach team objectives
    • Experience with software development with C, C++, Fortran, or Python code development.
    • Experience with the Qt and Tkinter toolkit.
    • Experience or coursework demonstrating a working knowledge of software engineering principles and practices.
    • Communication skills (oral / presentation / written).
    • Positive and effective team interaction skills along with positive peer relationship skills.
    • Demonstrated leadership and initiative in completing project objectives.
    • Prior experience working with a large legacy code base.
    • Ability to work with customers to understand and translate requests into formal software requirements.
    • Knowledge of and ability to implement refactoring best practices and optimize legacy software using design patterns.
    • Knowledge of and ability to work under Software Configuration Management processes.
    • Experience working with engineering workstation computers and LINUX operating environments.

    Our total rewards package

    The range of base salary for the position is between $67,000 - $87,000, and may also include annual incentives, performance bonuses and benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
