    Framatome is seeking an Engineer for our Old Forest Road office in Lynchburg. VA.

     

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Performing new small break and large break loss-of-coolant accident analyses for Westinghouse- and Combustion Engineering-designed PWRs.
    • Evaluating and documenting the impact of plant and core design changes on existing LOCA analyses.
    • Contributing to methods development activities in support of new products.
    • Contributing to the development of automation and software tools to improve operating efficiency.
    • Interfacing with other engineering teams (neutronics, mechanics, thermal-hydraulics, non-LOCA) to ensure successful customer delivery.

     

    ALL CANDIDATES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY.  CANDIDATES WHO EXCEED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS MAY BE CONSIDERED FOR A HIGHER LEVEL POSITION.

    • ENGINEER IV: BS in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline plus 5-7 years of engineering experience. An advanced degree may be substituted for related experience (Masters, 1-2 years, or PhD, 1-3 years).
    • PRINCIPAL ENGINEER: BS in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline plus 7-10 years of engineering experience. An advanced degree may be substituted for related experience (Masters, 1-2 years, or PhD, 1-3 years).
    • ADVISORY ENGINEER: BS in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline plus 12+ years of engineering experience. An advanced degree may be substituted for related experience (Masters, 1-2 years, or PhD, 1-3 years).
    • Possess a strong safety focus and dedication to operational excellence.
    • Possess good verbal and written skills.
    • Possess a pro-active approach to problem identification and resolution.
    • Ability and attitude to learn a variety of new procedures, processes, and tools while maintaining projects in various stages of production.
    • Ability to work well in a high paced atmosphere.
    • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple assignments to reach team objectives.
    • Experience developing and fostering customer relationships.
    • Possess leadership qualities necessary to organize and coordinate cross team and interdepartmental technical deliverables.
    • A good knowledge of safety and licensing issues relating to PWRs, including NRC rules, regulations, and policies.

     

     

    THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS ARE DESIRED AND WILL BE USED TO DIFFERENTIATE ALL CANDIDATES WHO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION.

    • Experience using RELAP or similar code to simulate reactor system behavior during postulated accidents.
    • Familiarity with PWR LOCA phenomenology.
    • Experience developing analytical methods to be used in licensing calculations.
    • Familiarity with statistical methods and quantification of uncertainties.
    • Experience using nuclear fuel performance codes and understanding of fuel behavior under accident conditions.
    • Experience with computer programming and scripting in FORTRAN, PYTHON, and C++.
    • Proficiency with LINUX environments.
