    SUMMARY: WR is potentially seeking a Technician to support the Enhanced Control Display Unit (ECDU) Project for NIWC. 

     

     

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES will include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Follow direction from supervisor on layout and assembly procedures on design details and functional criteria of electronic units.
    • Under general supervision of senior personnel, set up standard test apparatus, devise test equipment and circuitry to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and live tests.
    • Evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production model.
    • Assemble experimental circuitry (breadboard) or complete prototype model.
    • Perform mechanical assembly and integration of equipment.
    • Read and interpret schematics, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and safety rules.
    • Write routine reports, operating instructions, and correspondence.
    • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with supervisors and peers.
    • Work with mathematical concepts applicable to electronics, including Ohm's law, Kirchhoff's law, SI and Metric units, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry.

     

     

     CANDIDATES MUST POSSESS THE FOLLOWING KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Four (4)+ years of practical experience, including:
      • Electronics repair
      • Maintenance
      • Checkout
    • One (1)+ year of practical experience in electronics installation
      • Experience may be concurrent
    • Formal electronics training: technical school, OR class A or B military school in electronics or communications, OR four (4) year electronics apprentice program
    • Formal electronics experience: installation tasks, soldering, cable dressing, cable tray, conduit, and making/repairing connectors 
    • PREFERRED: Knowledge of Enhanced Control Display Unit (ECDU) operation, testing, and troubleshooting

     

     

    THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE REQUIRED TO PASS A PRE-EMPLOYMENT THIRD-PARTY BACKGROUND CHECK WHICH MAY INCLUDE VERIFICATION OF ANY OF THE FOLLOWING: EMPLOYMENT HISTORY; EDUCATION AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS; CRIMINAL HISTORY; DRIVING RECORDS; OTHER RECORDS OR INFORMATION RELATED TO THE CANDIDATE’S SUITABILITY FOR THE POSITION.

  • Qualifications
    • GED or High School Diploma preferred
    • Less than one year of experience in construction or manufacturing
    • Basic ability to read and interpret blue prints
    • Basic math and reading comprehension skills
    • Ability to read a tape measure
    • Ability to read, speak, and understand English
    • Proven experience demonstrating safe and effective operation of required equipment

    • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch
    • Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs along and over 50 lbs with assistance

    • Must be able to visually inspect products
    • Must have manual dexterity in hands for tool usage
    • Must be able to work in a non-temperature controlled environment
    • Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment
