  • Responsibilities

    The overall objective of the Structural Coordinator position is to effectively coordinate the material, sub‐contractor and documentation needed in order to complete the structural projects accurately and on time.

    Support the efforts of being a best in class manufacturer by applying technical knowledge to:  Review project drawing designs for any technical design issues before they are submitted to the customer. Review customer comment drawings and communicate any issues to the Building Project Manager and/or the Program Manager.  Support the integration of the buildings progress by providing technical information to vendors as needed.  Occasionally design items for projects, such as FM200 enclosures, UPS Battery enclosures and Junction Boxes, mounting brackets, etc.

    Coordinate the accurate and timely completion of Structural projects throughout the yard by:  Coordinating the timely requisition of materials and scheduled receipt dates to ensure project timelines are met.  Closely monitoring all subcontractor activities for quality, while documenting progress and ensuring that the scope of work has been completed  Facilitating effective project communications by incorporating all drawing changes into the drawing package, per document control policies, and informing the Structural Department personnel of any changes.  Acting as company liaison between Point Eight Power and client representatives during Factory Acceptance Testing.

    Maintain the integrity of point Eight Power’s quality products by:  Inspecting materials that are supplied by the clients and/or furnished by Point Eight Power to ensure it conforms to the quality standards outlined by the project requirements.  Coordinating final inspections of building projects with the Client and quality control inspectors to ensure quality issues have been resolved before shipment.  Maintaining the up keep of the Quality Control Packet for projects, including the Inspection Test Plan, material received, paint inspection reports, Mill Test Reports and all other inspection reports.  Ensuring that documents are of the proper revision level, and are properly archived upon completion.  Maintain a safe workplace by coordinating all safety training classes, welder certifications, and operator certifications. In addition, making sure those certifications and classes are up‐to‐date and are conducted regularly.

    Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

    Technical: Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.  Mechanical: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. JCB Forklift, shop forklift, & crane.  Technical:  Computers and Electronics: Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications and programming such as Microsoft Office Business Suite; knowledge of accounting software such as AS400.  Verbal & Written Communication Skills: This position requires intermediate skills (Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.)  Math Skills: This position requires intermediate skills (calculate figures/discounts, proportions, area,etc.) Physical Demands/

    Required Experience

    5 years of experience in an industrial, commercial construction, or similar industry, preferred.  2 ‐ 5 years of experience in steel building fabrication, preferred.
