    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Structural Installation Specialist will perform activities involving the safe installation of unit sections, platforms, stairs, and miscellaneous steel of a designated construction project to ensure that goals and objectives of projects are accomplished safely and within the prescribed time frame.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Work with a team of specialists to rig, lift, and install unit sections and other steel items in support of Roeslein’s project objectives.
    • Read, interpret, and follow basic blueprints and other written instructions and procedures to accurately assemble and install unit sections and other steel products.
    • Operate a forklift within the safety procedures and policies prescribed.
    • Attach loads to rigging to provide support and prepare them for lifting and moving using hand and power tools.
    • Perform assembly of unit sections, platforms, stairs, and miscellaneous steel on the ground and at heights using hand and power tools.
    • Ability to identify and make recommendations for problems encountered in the field.
    • Follow the work plan within specific project parameters by working with the specialists and other subcontractors on the site.
    • Perform tasks during the final project phases, including punch list and closeout items through Functional Installation Check-out acceptance.
    • Travel domestically and internationally 75% of the time.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with employees at all locations.
    • Conduct all activities in a safe and healthy manner and work in accordance with established safety and company requirements.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Work is performed in an uncontrolled atmosphere.  Exposure to harsh conditions such as dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, varying weather, and temperature fluctuations for short periods of time is possible.  All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas. 

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job.   While performing the duties of this position, the employee will regularly be required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear.  Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. on a regular basis is required.  Have the ability to push and pull 50 lbs. or more on a regular basis.  Have the ability to reach overhead from an elevated platform.  Must be able to stand/walk/climb 90% of the time on uneven work surfaces and sit 10% of the time.

     

    KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / ABILITY / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

    • High school diploma or G.E.D. is preferred.
    • One (1) to two (2) years of manufacturing and/or industrial construction experience is preferred.
    • High mechanical aptitude is required.
    • Experience with handheld tools (drill, circular saw, socket wrenches) is required.
    • Must be able to read a tape measure
    • Ability to read blueprints is preferred.
    • Must be able to perform job responsibilities at heights.
    • Ability to operate a forklift and crane are strongly preferred; previous is experience is a plus.
    • Ability to work flexible hours including, but not limited to, frequent and mandatory overtime and weekends are required.
    • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.

    Required Skills Required Experience

  • Qualifications
    • High School Diploma or equivalent; at least one year of formal, applied training in welding and/or robotic welding.
    • At least one year of experience performing open root welding under ASME Section VIII. Div. 1 UG90 (c)(2) requirements and/or robotic programming and welding. Three years preferred.
    • Ability to navigate multiple windows in company Enterprise Resource Program (ERP) system to access production and resource data.
    • Ability to frequently lift or move material weighing over 10 lbs. and up to 60 lbs.
    • Use of elementary geometry, algebra and trigonometric principles, together with the use of drawings and specifications; various types of precision measuring instruments, and the ability to make minor modifications to welding robot equipment. Interpretation of data and measuring devices requiring advanced skills knowledge.
    • Ability to read and follow written procedures and use of drawings and specifications where some interpretation is required.
