    POSITION SUMMARY: 

    The Senior Product Manager (Mechatronics) will take ownership of the product vision for the Robotics, Servo, and CNC product portfolio, based on in depth understanding of customer problems and aligning the organization around creating desirable outcomes for customers and the business in the Americas. You will develop and communicate the product strategy, supported by annual business plans that will allow for faster growth and market share expansion. You will establish shared vision across the company by building consensus on the priorities and influencing support of the product strategies.

     

    POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:                                                    

    • Own the company’s Mechatronics business plan, which outlines ambitious sales and market expansion goals, defined in smart and achievable ways
    • Direct the creation, communication, and implementation of the product vision and strategy. Obtain buy-in from stakeholder across all levels within the organization.
    • Oversee all activities associated with the product lifecycle, including development, launch, growth, maturity, and sunset. This includes defining pricing, product messaging, training, certification, and regulatory requirements, etc.
    • Define product requirements and specifications according to the market or customer need, and work closely with the development team to develop high quality, high value products.
    • Prioritize product development items for highest impact and faster-time-to market. Help the team balance business needs vs. technical and resource constraints.
    • Work closely with Product Marketing on product positioning, value proposition, and market segmentation to ensure successful product launches
    • Engage prospects and customers and conduct market research to understand the challenges and pain points faced by our customers. Use this understanding of the customer to create compelling value proposition statements, and to anticipate market trends that may impact your product vision
    • Take a data-driven approach to analyze the overall health of the product portfolio. Define and analyze metrics to inform decision making and measure product success, tracking them over time and making improvements as needed
    • Regularly review pricing, competitive and profitability analysis. Identify opportunities for pricing harmonization, profitability improvements, and relevant countermeasures
    • Influence parent company’s actions by leveraging personal relationships, persuasive arguments, and data driven analysis producing favorable outcomes that allow Mitsubishi Electric to effectively compete in the Americas.
    • Develop close and effective relationships with peers from other functions such as sales, business development, service, corporate marketing, and legal to ensure a cohesive approach to the product strategy and growth, and to effectively manage joint strategic initiatives
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

     

    SUPERVISORY / MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Supervise approximately 2-4 employees in the Product Management team, as assigned by Manager.
    • Oversee daily activities, and manage the performance of the staff.
    • Adhere to supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
    • Perform interviews, hiring, and training of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work: appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

     

    TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

    • 25% travel within the Americas and occasionally Japan.

    ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • BS in Engineering or Marketing preferred: BS in Business equivalent will be considered.
    • 7+ years’ experience in industrial automation sales, marketing, and/or applications engineering.
    • Minimum of 5 years experience in robotics. Extensive knowledge of the robotics market is essential. This knowledge can be a combination of knowledge and experience from: operations, engineering, sales, project management, management, or marketing. Candidates with experience working with robot manufacturers, systems integrators, end users, or robot ancillary equipment provider will be given preference.
    • Experience with a wide variety of industrial automation applications.
    • Extensive commercial and technical knowledge of industrial automation products.
    • Excellent writing, oral, and presentation skills.
    • Strong leadership skills with experience inspiring cross functional teams
    • Strong coaching/mentoring skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills and presence to deal effectively with internal and external customers at all levels
    • Ability to understand complex business problems, apply strong analytical skills, and create effective strategies
    • Computer Skills / Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

     

    BENEFICIAL EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Experience in Japanese business culture environment
    • Familiarity with SAP ECC/SAP CRM
