Birch Craft Construction is seeking an experienced and reliable Framing Subcontractor to partner with us on a variety of residential projects throughout Washtenaw County and the surrounding Michigan area. We’re looking for a subcontractor capable of handling advanced framing projects such as additions, remodel tie-ins, garages, and — as the partnership grows — potentially full home builds. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of modern framing techniques, structural connections, and code-compliant construction methods. This position requires someone who can operate independently, manage a crew efficiently, and deliver high-quality work with minimal oversight. Birch Craft Construction maintains a professional and organized approach on every job site. We value subcontractors who share our commitment to communication, craftsmanship, and client satisfaction. Responsibilities: • Perform advanced wood framing for residential additions, remodels, garages, and small-to-mid-scale new construction. • Interpret and build directly from blueprints, drawings, and framing plans. • Provide and manage a competent, reliable crew capable of completing projects safely and efficiently. • Coordinate daily operations and maintain progress to meet agreed-upon schedules. • Maintain communication with Birch Craft Construction’s management team for scheduling, inspections, and updates. • Ensure all framing meets local building codes and project specifications. • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe worksite. • Supply your own tools, equipment, and transportation suitable for framing operations. • Demonstrate professionalism and respect toward clients, inspectors, and other trades on-site. Qualifications: • Valid Michigan Builder’s License (or Framing Subcontractor License). • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation. • General Liability Insurance required. • Workman’s Compensation Insurance preferred (or ability to provide a WC-337 exemption form). • Minimum of 5 years of framing experience, including 2+ years leading a crew. • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and structural drawings. • Experience with additions, remodel tie-ins, and roofline integrations. • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining quality and efficiency. • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills. • Must provide own framing tools and PPE (Birch Craft will coordinate dumpster, material deliveries, and inspections). Compensation: $70,000 yearly
