Under limited supervision and with significant independent judgment, apply both GAAP and Statutory principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial reporting, including: a. Lead preparation of GAAP financial statements and reports b. Lead development and application of GAAP accounting policies, procedures, and standards to achieve GAAP financial statements and reports c. Prepare and develop forecasting procedures and reporting d. Prepare materials for leadership, external auditors and actuaries e. Perform financial analyses of operations and prepare business intelligence reports including that of line of business, regional, and cost center segments. f. Participate in department and corporate planning g. Provide enhancement of the financial reporting systems, internal controls and operations h. Assist with statutory statements i. Assist with tax functions, including premium tax and federal tax payments j. Ensure compliance with local, state and federal tax reporting and filing requirements k. Recommend policies and procedures relating to financial and business practices of the Company
May serve as a contributing member to project team(s), or leader of project team(s), coordinating resources to ensure achievement of project activities.
May provide leadership to junior staff by assigning tasks, training, and providing guidance. May provide input to management regarding junior staff performance.
Perform other duties as assigned
