  • Responsibilities

    CLOSING DATE/TIME:  NOVEMBER 26, 2019 AT 4:00 P.M.

    Under general supervision, operates, implements and maintains the computerized project management information and control system utilized primarily in the District's engineering departments; provides effective project planning and scheduling support to project managers; facilitates the coordination of District projects through the planning, design, and construction phases.

    This position will serve as a grants and loans post-award technician.  Related duties include, but are not limited to, post-award management as well as daily and operational tracking of grants and loans.  The position shall also perform a full range of duties in support of the assigned department.

    Project Control Technician I is the entry level class in the Project Control Technician series.

    Required Skills

    Ability to interpret, explain and utilize project control software; prepare clear, accurate and complete engineering project reports, records and other written materials; make sound independent judgments within established guidelines; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; follow and apply written and oral instructions.

    The following criteria will be assessed in evaluating candidates:

    1. Computer application knowledge: Assessed through on-line testing and oral interview; weighted at 30%.
    2. Job-related knowledge: Assessed through application review, oral interview, and review work history; weighted at 30%
    3. Organizational skills: Assessed through application review, testing, and oral interview; weighted at 20%.
    4. Administrative office skills: Assessed through application review, testing, and oral interview; weighted at 20%.

    TYPICAL PASS POINT FOR TESTING IS 70% UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED.

    Required Experience

    Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent, supplemented by college-level course work in civil engineering, drafting, engineering mathematics or related fields; and two years of increasingly responsible sub professional work in engineering project management; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

    *Experience in the field of Post-Award administration including, but not limited to, the preparation of reimbursement requests, progress reports, etc.; increasingly responsible analytical and/or budgetary experience; and experience administering grants/loans in a governmental jurisdiction is highly desirable.
