ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT – PAYROLL/HUMAN RESOURCES
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Responsible for assisting in Payroll and Human Resources. Functions include payroll entries, employee benefits and a variety of related functions. Also responsible for entering information in software applications used by the Sheriff’s Office such as Human Resources Compensation Management System (HR/CMS), HRD-Worker’s Comp eServices. Performs related work as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the direct supervision of the Assistant Deputy Superintendent of Human Resources who provides instruction and guidance, assigns work, and reviews performance through oral and written reports.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists with monitoring all employee leave benefits including but not limited to: FMLA; SNLA; Military Leave; Sick time; Maternity/Paternity Leave, Worker’s Compensation. Assists with onboarding of interns and volunteers as it relates to required documentation, training certificates and file creation. Maintains tracking of employee time and attendance. Assists in working with other divisions within the agency to track time off requests, payroll documentation, sick leave and other payroll and HR tasks. Assists in preparing monthly reports related to injuries and benefits. Maintain confidentiality and security of employee information. Maintain communication and a good working relationship with agency staff. Processes wage and employment verification requests. Prepares, submits and relates necessary information and reports to appropriate staff and other governmental agencies as directed. Files and scans material such as correspondence, reports, etc. in accordance with a prescribed classification system. Performs and assists with other departmental projects as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Regular and predictable work attendance. PC Literacy with demonstrated knowledge in Microsoft Office. Ability to maintain harmonious working relationships with others. Ability to establish and maintain rapport with persons from different ethnic, cultural and/or economic backgrounds. Ability to adapt to varying work situations. Ability to maintain accurate records. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to prepare reports, analyze and determine the applicability of data, draw conclusions and to make appropriate recommendations. Ability to read, write and comprehend the English Language. Ability to use proper grammar, punctuation and spelling. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
POSITION #: TBD SHIFT: 30 hrs/week, schedule TBD SALARY RANGE: $43,532.59 - $52,877.68 GRADE: 16 FRINGE BENEFITS: Full fringe benefit entitlements in accordance with State and FCSO Personnel Policies covering this position.
