    FREDERICKSBURG CONVENTION & VISITOR BUREAU

    JOB DESCRIPTION

     

    POSITION: Group Sales and Service Associate

     

    STATUS: FLSA Exempt

     

    FUNCTION: Work closely with Director of Group Sales to increase tourism and overnight lodging

    in Fredericksburg and Gillespie County with an emphasis on group business including

    meetings, conferences and wedding markets. Providing clients with superior customer

    service while maintaining accurate records of sales activities.

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    1. Assist in the development and execution of group sales strategy and marketing effort.

    2. Develop working relationships with local hospitality partners and services.

    3. Maintain and update personal knowledge of Fredericksburg and Gillespie County including history, new businesses, tourism trends and group business.

    4. Represent FCVB at consumer shows, conferences and industry events with the goal of increasing group room night bookings.

    5. Accurately produce and deliver welcome gifts, name badges and brochures.

    6. Maintain and update CSM/CRM records.

    7. Accurately answer inquiries regarding Fredericksburg and Gillespie County as well as keep records of these inquires. Convert inquiries to room nights.

    8. Act as local expert to groups and provide planning assistance utilizing local partners and services.

    9. Assist in the preparation and administration of departmental budgets with ROI in mind.

    10. Conduct/coordinate venue and client site inspections.

    11. Contact new and existing customers to discuss needs as well as close group business.

    12. Assist in identifying prospective customers, lead-generation and conversion.

    13. Follow up with customers to continue relationships.

    2. Establish positive relationships with staff & destination partners that will assist client and team in creating value added opportunities.

    3. Demonstrates an ability and willingness to provide efficient and quality service to both internal and external customers.

    4. Adapts quickly to changing volume of work and responds appropriately and positively to various situations.

    5. Keeps informed on trends and events through industry association involvement.

    6. Work cooperatively across organizational departments to ensure consistency of messaging and leverage existing resources where appropriate.

     

    RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY:

     

    Reports to and works under the general supervision of the Director of Group Sales.

    QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE:

     

    1. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in hospitality, marketing or related field.

    2. Hospitality industry experience specifically in sales and services a plus.

    3. Database management experience, Simpleview, a plus.

    4. Proficient in MS office products.

    5. Ability to work in a team environment.

    6. Must be able to manage multiple, concurrent projects and prioritize effectively.

    7. Outstanding organizational skills, judgment and attention to detail.

    8. Strong communication, presentation, organizational and interpersonal skills required.

    9. Must be able to work some weekends and evenings as required.

    10. Ability to lift and carry boxes up to 40 lbs.

    11. Valid driver’s license.

    12. Must reside in or relocate to Gillespie County.

     

    STARTING SALARY: Compensation is based on an established salary range, commensurate with industry experience, and includes a basic benefits package

    The Fredericksburg Convention and Visitor Bureau is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit corporation funded by lodging tax collected by the City of Fredericksburg and Gillespie County. The organization is governed by a 13-member board of directors representing the local hospitality industry and is headquartered at 302 East Austin Street. In addition to its marketing and sales activities, the Convention and Visitor Bureau also operates the Fredericksburg Visitor Information Center, located at the same address.
