    Freight Broker - Logistics Analyst Summary

    In this critical brokerage position, you'll be at the center of our logistics operation. Within this role, you'll operate with a high level of autonomy where you'll balance reviewing shipments, carrier engagement, freight brokerage, rate negotiation, and much more. Individuals who excel in this position are solution-oriented and prefer to be in a dynamic environment where they're required to solve problems rapidly. Employees entering this position must have some logistical knowledge, but we provide in-depth hands-on training to help you get acclimated to the SPD environment.

    Your Responsibilities

    • Collaboration // Collaborate closely with clients and carriers to ensure deliveries are timely and cost-effective.
    • Relationship Management // Develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers, carriers, and internal teams to ensure high freight coverage.
    • Monitor and Update // Routinely monitor shipment movement and update the transportation management system (TMS) with accurate information.
    • Negotiation // Negotiate rates and contracts with carriers, finding an effective balance on costs to ensure quick freight distribution and maximum profit.
    • Carrier Analysis // Review and analyze carrier performance to ensure that shipments have on-time pickup/delivery and ensure safe movement of freight.
    • Data Analysis // Analyze and comprehend relevant data related to the movement of freight to ensure that decisions are grounded in best practices supported by data.
    • Conflict Resolution // Identify, understand, and resolve issues that occur with the carrier, customer, and freight during the shipment process while ensuring strong working relationships.

    • Communication // Excellent communication across varying mediums is required to effectively communicate with a diverse range of individuals.
    • Rate Negotiation // Demonstrable experience with effective rate and contract negotiation.
    • Time Management // Proven ability to manage one's own time in a highly dynamic environment with shifting deadlines and priorities.
    • Data Analysis and Comprehension // Demonstrated experience in a position that required the analysis and deep comprehension of data to make decisions.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • A(n) High School Diploma, or equivalent, and at least one (1) year of experience in freight brokerage, logistics, transportation, supply chain, or a related field. An equivalent amount of education and experience may be considered.
    • Employment is contingent upon completion of the SPD employment process (including a background check).

    Preferred Qualifications

    • A(n) associate's degree in logistics, supply chain, business administration (or management), or a related field, and at least two (2) years of experience in freight brokerage, logistics, transportation, supply chain, or a related field. An equivalent amount of education and experience may be considered.

    Salary and Schedule

    • Salary // $25.00 - $28.00 per hour, decided based on experience.
    • Schedule // Full-Time; On-Site; Monday - Friday; 07:00 AM - 4:00 PM
