    Friends of the Children is looking for an extraordinary professional to join our finance team.  Do you have keen attention to detail and are you ready use your skills to support a growing nonprofit network?     We are committed to expanding our model across the country and plan to have a total of twenty-five locations by 2025. The Finance Department performs the accounting functions for the National Friends of the Children organization and chapters throughout the country. The National AP Clerk partners with our National AP Specialist to complete  the disbursement process including review, coding, and check preparation for all vendor payments and employee expense reports for all the chapters. This person will also prepare and code deposits, code credit as well as card payments. 

    The working hours for this position will be approximately 20 hours Tuesday-Friday during regular working hours.

    FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Receives vendor invoices, reconciles supporting documents, verifies account coding and gathers necessary approvals for processing.
    • Enters payment information for vendor invoices and employee expense reports into computerized accounting system and prepares disbursements.
    • Converts source documents to electronic media and maintenance of electronic and source document filing.
    • Supports Accounts Receivable activities.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND ABILITIES:

    • Demonstrate attention to detail and strong quantitative thinking
    • Demonstrate understanding of the accounts payable and disbursement process.
    • Demonstrate applied knowledge of accounting software.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
    • Accurate keyboard and 10-key skills and be able to operate standard office equipment.
    • Able to effectively manage multiple tasks with concurrent deadlines.
    • Demonstrate ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Able to analyze existing processes and implement modifications to meet the changing needs of a changing organization.
    • Two years of accounts payable or accounts receivable experience with an associates degree or higher in Business, Finance or Accounting; or 5-7 years of experience in lieu of a degree.

    PREFERRED, EXPERIENCE, AND ABILITIES:

    • Prior experience with Financial Edge software.
    • Prior experience with multi-branch organizations.

    PART-TIME NON-EXEMPT 

    • Approximately 20 hours per week Tuesday-Friday (Off on Mondays)
    • $17.00 -$20.00 Hourly rate commensurate with experience
