    Friends of the Children is seeking an extraordinary leader to take its national marketing and communications to the next level.  The Friends’ innovative model is proven to break the cycle of generational poverty for children who face the highest risks, and has embarked on an ambitious national expansion to reach thousands more youth in the next five years.

    The National Director of Marketing and Communications will be a passionate leader and innovative thinker with a unique balance of strategic and operational discipline.  She or he will possess broad functional expertise and be relentlessly driven to advance the Friends’ brand nationally and achieve best-in-class marketing to reach prospective donors and increase the organization’s fundraising capacity.

    The ideal candidate will have a smart head for business, a creative spark and a soft heart for kids.  He or she will be proactive, results driven and possess a sense of urgency while at the same time, look to focus their entrepreneurial talents to make a real difference for children facing the highest risks.  Their ultimate goal will be to increase the reach of Friends of the Children by effectively communicating the urgency of our mission and the success of our outcomes.

    Our model is proven to break the cycle of generational poverty for children who face the highest risks by providing professional mentors to thousands of youth across the country. We were recently awarded a $4 million Social Innovation Fund challenge match grant, as part of our efforts to raise a $25 million Expansion Fund. We are looking for a passionate committed leader to use their expertise and vision to play a key role in our expansion efforts.  Friends’ national expansion plan includes increasing capacity at current locations, adding new locations, and sharing what works with other organizations interested in adopting components of the model.

    The National Director of Marketing will reside in Seattle or Portland.  The position reports to the Chief Expansion Officer.  She or he will be part of the National executive team and work in partnership with a talented team of committed leaders from throughout the network as well as with the National Marketing & Communications Committee, comprised of industry experts representing a cross-section of marketing disciplines.
