Development Manager of Corporate Sponsorships and Grants
Position Overview
The Development Manager is responsible for developing and executing Mounts Botanical Garden’s fundraising and corporate sponsorship strategy, with the goal of securing significant financial support from businesses and corporations. Essentially, the Director Manager will play an important role in the design and execution of additional programs to raise funds to support the mission of Mounts Botanical Garden.
The Development Manager is a highly visible position, responsible for soliciting and strengthening relationships with existing corporate partners and identifying potential partnership opportunities for sponsorship and programmatic support. Strong emphasis will be placed on the oversight and intentional growth of the corporate portfolio and successfully securing annual support for Mounts Botanical Garden programs and exhibits, to ensure goals are met for the organization and our corporate partners.
Duties
Develop and implement a fundraising and corporate sponsorship strategy that aligns with MBG’s mission and goals
Develop compelling proposals, sponsorship materials, partnership agreements, and contracts focused on the values and priorities of corporate partners, with an emphasis on multi-year relationships
Maintain accurate records of all prospecting activities including recruiting calls, presentations, successful partnerships, follow up activities and contacts in Blackbaud’s Altru
Develop benchmarks and short-and log-term metrics to monitor and track activities, progress and effectiveness of corporate fundraising strategies.
Track and analyze corporate fundraising results and measure return on investment and return on opportunity
Collaborate across the Garden’s program areas to develop marketing materials, funding opportunities, and recognition efforts designed to increase giving.
Conduct all stages of the grants and sponsorship process, from initial prospect identification to online and in-person meetings with funders to the proposal and budget creation through continued stewardship and reporting
Assist in the planning and execution of future events for relevant MBG-specific constituent groups.
Work independently and creatively to match donor interests with MBG priorities.
Ensure that all sponsorship agreements are executed in compliance with organizational policies and regulations
Work closely with the Curator-Director, Membership Programs Manager, and FMBG Development Committee members to identify and pursue strategic partnership opportunities
Represent MBG at events and meetings with donors, corporate partners, and potential donors/sponsors
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of three years of experience in fundraising, corporate sponsorship development, and management
Blackbaud CRM experience preferred
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge and experience in CRMs, donor database systems such as Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge
Knowledge of the corporate sponsorship landscape and the ability to identify and pursue new partnership opportunities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
Excellent research, writing, and proofreading skills with high-level, consistent attention to detail
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Leadership and project management abilities
Requires reliable transportation and a flexible schedule as occasional early morning, evening and weekend hours will be required.
