Litigation Paralegal

Location: Houston, Texas

Compensation: Dependent Upon Experience.

Job Description:

Friesell Westerlage, PLLC is looking for a Legal / Administrative Assistant to work with counsel throughout all stages of litigation, including: pre-suit investigation; organization of documents and evidence throughout discovery and for trial; electronic filing of pleadings, motions, and notices with courts; working with opposing counsel’s staff to schedule depositions and mediations. The ideal candidate would have strong time management skills; self-motivation and the ability to work independently; knowledge of legal terminology, documents, and the legal process; and a high-level of attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Organizing and managing case files
• Files documents in both state and federal courts and prepares e-filings when appropriate
• Acts as a liaison between the trial team and third parties
• Coordinates trial or hearing logistics
• Works with litigation support specialists and attorneys on electronic productions
• Communicate effectively and productively with individuals in all roles, internal and external
• Trial/Arbitration/Mediation preparation and attendance

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years of legal assistant / paralegal experience preferred
• Must have a high school diploma (or equivalent), Bachelor's degree and paralegal certificate preferred
• Trial experience preferred
