    Applicants must be enrolled in a Moraine Valley Community College Industrial Maintenance Program. Quaker's Maintenance Mechanic Internship program is designed to provide students an opportunity to work side by side with experienced mechanics while gaining hands on experience in rebuilding, repairing, troubleshooting, fabricating, and building industrial equipment. The program will last three months with the potential for additional months/semesters. The program will be designed to match work tasks with current or previous courses taken. The successful candidate will work 20 to 25 hours a week in an industrial maintenance environment. The work hours will flex based on your class schedule. The candidate will attend all required trainings including Safety Programs and job-specific trainings. Job DutiesDemonstrate ability to inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair industrial equipment and machinery to ensure maximum operational efficiencyMaintains funciton and reliability of manufacturing and support equipment by performing preventative maintenanceMonitors machines regularly for signs of defects and malfunctions, including visual inspections, listening for irregular noises and conducting testing as appropriatePerform breakdown analysis to understand root cause of component failures by following the BDA/Breakdown Analysis ProcessWork with outside contractors on assigned tasksUnderstand and comply with cGMP's, Food Safety Practices, audit standards as well as Plant Safety PracticesWork under limited supervision with Maintenance Tech MentorsUtilize the CMMS system to document work tasksMaintain machinery and the adjacent workplace in a state of appropriate cleanlinessUse a variety of power and hand tools to perform job functionsMay perform other related duties as necessary to meet the ongoing buisness needs of the organization Minimum QualificationsMust be enrolled in a Moraine Calley Community College Industrial Maintenance ProgramStrong performance, attendance, and academic standing with technical school programWillingness to work 20 to 25 hours per week and to commit to a semester-long programMust have at least 1 semester completed in the industrial maintenance or similar programAuthorized to work in United States on a permanent basisMust be 18 years of age or older All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability status.
