About Metropolitan Equestrian Metropolitan Equestrian is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing accessible equestrian sports and educational programs to individuals of all ages and abilities. As the first nonprofit awarded the National Park Service federal concession for Rock Creek Park Horse Center, we are committed to excellence, community engagement, and fostering a welcoming environment for our riders, families, and visitors.
Position Overview We are seeking a highly organized, friendly, and dependable Front Desk & Volunteer Coordinator to join our team in Washington, DC. This role serves as the first point of contact for visitors, riders, and families, and is responsible for managing daily administrative functions while coordinating volunteer activities. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, skilled in multitasking, and proficient with computers and technology.
Key Responsibilities
Greet and assist visitors, riders, and families in a professional and welcoming manner.
Answer phone calls, respond to emails, and manage front desk inquiries.
Maintain accurate records and databases for participants and volunteers.
Coordinate all volunteer activities, including recruitment, scheduling, orientation, and ongoing communication.
Support staff with administrative tasks and general organization.
Ensure the front desk area and public spaces are tidy and welcoming.
Assist with special events and fundraising activities as needed.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework preferred.
Minimum 1–2 years of administrative or customer service experience.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficient with computers, email platforms, and online scheduling/registration systems.
Ability to learn new software quickly.
Ability to multitask in a busy environment.
Detail-oriented and organized, with strong follow-up skills.
Interest in equestrian sports or nonprofit work is a plus.
Work Schedule
Full-time or part-time availability.
Weekend availability required.
Some evenings for special events or volunteer programs.
Compensation
Hourly rate based on experience.
