Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and friendly Front Desk and Insurance Verification Specialist to join our team. This key role combines front office reception duties with accurate and timely insurance verification. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of insurance policies, and a passion for helping patients navigate their care experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Front Desk Duties:
- Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival.
- Answer and direct phone calls, take messages, and respond to inquiries.
- Schedule and confirm appointments.
- Process referrals in Leading Reach.
- Collect co-pays, patient payments and manage patient check-in/check-out processes.
- Close out daily batches and reconcile cash box daily.
- Maintain a clean and organized reception area.
Insurance Verification:
- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to appointments by completing prep two weeks in advance.
- Obtain pre-authorizations and referrals as needed.
- Communicate insurance benefits and patient financial responsibilities clearly.
- Obtain copies of patient insurance cards and government issued ID.
- Enter and update insurance information accurately in the EMR system.
- Work with billing staff to resolve coverage or authorization issues.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in a medical office or similar healthcare setting.
- Proficient in verifying medical insurance and understanding various payers (commercial, Medicaid, Medicare).
- Knowledge of EMR systems (experience with ModMed [Modernizing Medicine] is a plus).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Reliable transportation is a must.
