Frontend Engineer (React / Next.js / TypeScript)
Location: New York City (SoHo) — In-Person
About Our Client
Our client is building the next-generation platform for institutional finance. The OTC derivatives market moves trillions of dollars daily on infrastructure that hasn’t fundamentally evolved in decades, and this team is rebuilding the foundation with a modern stack, an AI-native architecture, and a product experience that finally feels like it belongs in this decade.
The founding team comes from trading, quantitative, and engineering roles at tier-one financial institutions and has built some of the most innovative products in the space. Their clients include sophisticated banks, hedge funds, and asset managers, meaning the problems are complex, the standards are high, and the work will shape how this market operates for years to come.
Tech Stack
Frontend: TypeScript, React, Next.js, Redux
Backend: Python + Java microservices
Data: MongoDB
Infra: AWS serverless (cloud-native by design)
DevOps / SDLC: GitHub, Vercel, automated CI/CD with rapid intraday deployment
The Role
Our client is hiring a Frontend Engineer to take meaningful ownership of the UI layer across a rapidly scaling platform. This is a hands-on role where you’ll build highly interactive, data-rich interfaces, influence architectural decisions, and help deliver a world-class experience to institutional finance users.
This isn’t a “ticket factory” role. You’ll own major parts of the frontend, help define best practices, and shape how modern financial software should look and behave—while growing toward technical leadership.
What You’ll Do
Own major areas of the frontend codebase and help drive technical direction as the platform scales
Design and implement highly interactive, data-rich UI experiences using React, Next.js, and TypeScript
Partner closely with product, design, and backend engineering to shape requirements and ship quickly
Build and maintain reusable component systems, patterns, and documentation for long-term scalability
Integrate APIs precisely (REST/GraphQL), handling complex data flows, edge cases, and error states
Champion performance, accessibility, TypeScript rigor, and developer experience improvements
Drive code reviews, architectural discussions, and incremental upgrades to the frontend stack
Requirements
2+ years of professional experience building modern frontend applications
In-person role in NYC (SoHo)
Expertise in React, Next.js, TypeScript, and state management (e.g., Redux)
Comfortable taking technical ownership and making decisions that impact product direction
Strong foundation in UI architecture, performance optimization, and modern component patterns
Proficiency with API integrations (REST/GraphQL), async data handling, and error management
Experience building and maintaining reusable component systems and documentation
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Bonus Qualifications
Production experience with hybrid rendering using Next.js (SSR/SSG)
Working knowledge of MongoDB or distributed data models
Familiarity with automated UI testing (RTL, Jest, Cypress)
Experience with enterprise UX patterns and multi-user permissions systems
Comfort integrating AI coding assistants (Cursor, Claude Code) into your workflow
Interest in data visualization and complex modeling workflows
Familiarity with financial products—especially derivatives
Prior experience working with institutional clients or within capital markets
Why This Role
If you want true ownership, high-impact product challenges, and the chance to modernize a massive market with a team that moves fast and cares about craft, this is the kind of seat that doesn’t open often.
