SUMMARY:
The Admissions Specialists will be responsible for supporting the admissions department''s activities in the pre-admission, admission, discharge, and follow-up process. In addition to facilitating the center operations and admissions needs of our patients/residents requiring sub-acute, long term and/or rehabilitation care, the Admissions Specialists will also, support the Company''s mission, vision, core values, and provide excellent customer service to associates, residents, visitors and guests.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Must be an outgoing, friendly person who has a strong drive to help others and the ability to work with people who may be injured, sick, or confused while understanding resident and or family needs and concerns.
- Receives prospective resident referrals; review financial and clinical information with supporting tools, i.e. clinical grid.
- Tracks pre-admission referral activity daily/weekly.
- Confirms the level of care approval obtained from discharging provider and/or OBRA screening (PASSAR, MIMR), financial approval, and obtains the necessary documentation, as needed.
- Communicates resident needs and care requests to Executive Director and Director of Nursing.
- Refers requests for specialized equipment to appropriate nursing staff as needed.
- Reviews contracts content for need to obtain prior approval from authorized payers.
- Completes demographic information in PCC and emails or faxes to appropriate facility and department.
- Receives necessary financial information from discharging source prior to patient arriving, and distributes to case management, social services, and business office.
- Tracks acute hospital admissions to follow up and facilitate readmission of residents.
- Coordinates weekend/holiday admissions.
- Facilitates receipt of all necessary documentation from referring location.
- Reviews computerized census data daily.
- Maintains up to date waiting and inquiry lists for resident admissions.
- Coordinates room assignment designation.
- Promotes optimal communication among program staff members, facility staff, referrals sources, physicians, and residents.
- Communicate with regional team as necessary for consultation and program development.
- Participates in sales events and meetings, as needed in the medical and/or non-medical communities.
- Demonstrates flexibility in adjusting to change, patient needs, and customer expectations; meets company standards relating to deadlines and attendance.
- Participates in quality improvement activities, which reduce cost and increase efficiency through improved systems and processes.
- Works with medical records; while maintaining, organizing, and processing resident information for use in the center and with referring centers.

Required Experience
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 3 years'' experience in Health Care Sales/Marketing/Insurance and/or a degree in one of the related fields.
- Must be familiar with medical terminology.
- Be a minimum of 18 years of age and of good moral character.
- Experience with core software applications, including PCC is preferred, but not required.
- Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance, as required.
- Be able to follow and/or provide strong communication skills effectively through written and oral delivery in a manner appropriate for a healthcare/office setting.
- Be able to problem solve, as required.
- Must meet all local health regulations and pass post-employment exam.
