PROGRAM AND POSITION SUMMARY:
Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps (ALCC) engages motivated Indigenous young adults, ages 18 - 30, to complete challenging and impactful conservation and service projects throughout the western United States. Projects may include trail construction & maintenance, habitat improvement, hazardous fuels reduction, re-vegetation, historic preservation, and local environmental service projects. ALCC provides opportunities for members to learn about the local environment and issues surrounding conservation. ALCC crews work in a variety of National Parks, National Forests, and other public areas. Selected members are placed on a crew that will then collaborate to perform project work. ALCC is a non-residential program and does not offer housing. Gear and equipment rental is available upon request.
Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps-Diné is located downtown in Gallup NM (207 South Second Street). ALCC typically operates on a "hitch schedule", which is 8 days working in the field and 6 days off for rest and recovery time. Days in the field will be structured around 10 hour days. This schedule is subject to change due to project needs and other instances. ALCC-Diné has a variety of projects mentioned above, which are located in various locations, (NM, AZ, UT, and CA). Crews will have the opportunity to work with members of different tribes and also work on meaningful projects across the southwest.
