    We are seeking a PART-TIME CAREGIVER TO WORK MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY 3PM-8PM with individuals diagnosed with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities in their home and community setting in Wilmington Island. The Personal Care Aide or Certified Nursing Aide provides assistance to individuals with personal care, homemaking, errands, medical appointments, community access, community involvement, seeking employment, volunteer opportunities, independent living skills and continuing education.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Community Support Specialist uses a person centered approach to help improve the individual’s overall quality of life. The Community Support Specialist facilitates creative supports that align with the individual’s ISP and Plan of Care. The Community Support Specialist is an advocate for the individual and helps them to reach their fullest potential.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • CPR and First Aid certification (within 30 days)

    • Negative TB screening (provided)

    • Telephone with voice mail

    • Transportation

    • The caregiver must have one of the following:

    • Certification as a CNA on the Georgia State Registry, or

    • Credentials indicating successful completion of a health care or personal care credentialing program, or

    • Successful completion of a 40-hour training program provided by a private home care provider, or

    • Successful completion of a competency exam (we can administer this exam.)

    • Spanish speaking preferred.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Physical demands needed to successfully perform the position include the ability to: 

    • Walk and stand for long periods of time.
    • Lift, push and/or pull up to 30 pounds, and occasionally lift, push and/or pull up to 40 pounds. 
    • There may also be brief periods of outside work: assisting management or customers in transferring boxes to/from vehicles. Occasionally, Sales Associates may work a ‘traveling store’ event, where merchandise is sold at an area hospital, office or other facility.
