    MAJOR FUNCTION:  The Learning Commons Success Coach is housed within the Learning Commons and will report directly to the Director.  The Learning Commons Success Coach is independent work that includes leading academic coaching efforts and outreach/marketing efforts for the Learning Commons. Primary duties include, but are not limited to:

     

    • Providing academic coaching and mentoring to students.  Identifying at-risk students via an early alert system and connecting these students to resources and services in the Learning Commons.  Connecting with faculty and Student Services staff to provide academic support solutions. Providing high-touch and individualized student support.  Developing effective strategies for student success.  Assessing individual student needs and making appropriate referrals to campus resources.  Monitoring academic progress of students as needed.     

    • Enacting various outreach and marketing efforts to the campus community to promote the Learning Commons to students, faculty, and staff.

    • Providing workshops and additional specialized academic support to students. Creating and providing soft skills and career readiness training for students.  Providing academic coaching training to faculty and staff as needed.

    • Engaging in continuous improvement through developing and implementing a professional growth plan.

    • Providing resources to online students through Canvas and the Virtual Learning Commons.

     

    MINIMUM TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, in an area related to the responsibilities.  Also requires two years of experience in learning assistance and/or teaching.  A master’s degree may substitute for one year of the required experience.

Ability to interpret raw data, draw inferences from this data, and clearly articulate how this data might be used to improve the Division and/or the College.
