WC - Part Time Instructor, Automotive
I. POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for implementing and coordinating the cooperatives
marketing energy management and member consumer-relations programs.
II. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
A. Reports to: Eastern Operations Officer
III. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Conduct energy audits, inspect facilities (inside and out), equipment, and thermal
envelope for best energy efficiencies.
B. Responds to member inquiries and resolves member problems by reviewing
billing history and service complaints.
C. Presents programs on safety to schools, assists with fairs and provides programs
for civic groups.
D. Promotes cooperative marketing programs such as VIP (Value Incentive
Program), Key Account Program, and MVECnet Internet Program. Meets with
individual residential and commercial member-consumers, builders and
developers to promote Magic Valley’s programs and services.
E. Reviews construction plans and recommends energy efficiency standards so that
they qualify for best rate tariffs and/or rebates.
F. Attends planning and zoning meetings in all communities served as a
representative of the cooperative.
G. Reviews local newspapers and other publication to identify community events.
H. Prepares correspondence, newsletters, and other written materials.
I. Observes all safety rules.

The Marketing Representative shall be required to perform any other duties assigned in order

IV. EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
A. Member-Consumers: Communicates with concerning accounts and to explain the
services offered, rates, policies, procedures and benefits to which a cooperative
member-consumer is entitled.
B. General Public: Maintains good relations in all contacts with the general public.
C. Builders, Developers, Contractors: Promotes Magic Valley’s services and
programs.
D. Civic Organizations, Schools and Local Government: Promotes Magic Valley’s
programs and services. Represents the cooperative at meetings.

V. POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Job Knowledge, Training and Experience: Degree in marketing, communications,
agricultural engineering required. Technical training or the equivalent experience in
residential air conditioning, refrigeration and heating is desirable. Additional training in
communications, energy auditing, key accounts, and related consumer services areas
preferred. Bilingual (English and Spanish) is required. At least three years experience in
utilities is preferred. Must be able to acquire within a reasonable time span a working
knowledge of the cooperative’s marketing programs. Must have an understanding of
energy issues and the use of appropriate technology.
Equipment Operated: Computer terminals, personal computers, calculators and
standard office equipment. A valid Texas driver’s license is required.
Abilities and Skills: Excellent oral and written communications skills in both English
and Spanish. Must be able to organize time to meet deadlines. Should be able to deal
with a variety of people under different circumstances.
Physical Effort: Position activities are typically carried out standing, walking, sitting,
and driving. Climbing, stooping, crawling, and bending may be required to inspect
homes for energy auditing purposes.
Working Conditions: Position spends up to 50% of the time in the field. A major
portion of the time is on member-consumer premises. Activities are carried out during all
types of weather. Irregular work hours may be required some nights and weekends and
during emergencies.
After an offer of employment has been made, a physical examination may be required which will
include both drug and alcohol testing.
