Position Overview
The Northport Hotel is seeking an experienced, hospitality-driven Front of House Manager / Maître D' to join our leadership team.
This role is ideal for a natural host and strong leader who thrives in a fast-paced, upscale dining environment. The successful candidate will serve as the face of the restaurant, leading daily dining room operations, supporting and developing the front-of-house team, and ensuring every guest receives exceptional service from arrival to departure.
We are looking for someone who is highly visible on the floor, passionate about hospitality, skilled at building guest relationships, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of service and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Hospitality
Create a warm, welcoming, and memorable experience for every guest.
Serve as the primary point of contact for guest concerns and service recovery.
Build relationships with repeat guests and VIP clientele.
Ensure personalized service through attention to guest preferences and special requests.
Maintain a strong presence in the dining room throughout service.
Dining Room Leadership
Lead and oversee all dining room service periods.
Ensure service standards are consistently executed and maintained.
Monitor guest satisfaction and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
Collaborate with management to continuously elevate the guest experience.
Team Leadership & Development
Conduct daily pre-shift meetings covering reservations, menu updates, service priorities, and team communication.
Coach, mentor, and motivate front-of-house staff in real time.
Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and performance development.
Foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented culture.
Lead by example through professionalism, accountability, and hospitality.
Reservations & Seating Management
Manage reservations, waitlists, walk-ins, and overall guest flow.
Utilize OpenTable to optimize seating strategies and reservation management.
Monitor dining room pacing to maximize both guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Coordinate closely with hosts, servers, bartenders, and managers to ensure seamless service.
Operational Management
Assist with opening and closing management responsibilities.
Monitor dining room cleanliness, organization, and presentation standards.
Ensure compliance with company policies, service standards, and operational procedures.
Support cash handling procedures, daily reporting, and shift recaps as needed.
Assist in managing labor efficiency and front-of-house staffing levels.
Events & Cross-Department Collaboration
Support private events, special functions, and hotel-related dining experiences.
Work closely with culinary, beverage, hotel, and events teams to ensure seamless execution.
Communicate guest needs and operational priorities effectively across departments.
