This position involves 80% travel throughout the state working as part of a two-person crew on fuel dispenser installations, automatic tank gauging systems, and underground storage tank maintenance. You will troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems at commercial fueling sites while ensuring DOD compliance standards. The ideal candidate brings hands-on petroleum equipment experience or strong mechanical aptitude with willingness to learn.

Key Responsibilities – Fuel Systems Technician
- Conduct inspections and testing of fuel dispensers, underground storage tanks, and automatic tank gauging equipment at commercial and fleet sites. Perform quality control checks on all installations.
- Troubleshoot and repair petroleum equipment including Gilbarco and Wayne fuel dispensers, Veeder-Root ATG systems, and submersible turbine pumps. Diagnose electrical and mechanical failures using testing equipment.
- Install new fuel system components including dispenser units, ATG consoles, leak detection systems, and point-of-sale integrations. Test all equipment for proper functionality and regulatory compliance.
- Perform preventive maintenance on fuel systems to ensure optimal operation and minimize downtime. Document service history and maintain detailed repair records.
- Communicate technical findings clearly to project managers, supervisors, and clients. Provide on-site customer training for newly installed equipment and systems.
Qualifications – Fuel Systems Technician
- 2+ years hands-on experience with petroleum equipment installation and repair, fuel systems maintenance, or related electro-mechanical field service work
- Ability to pass Department of Defense (DOD) background check, pre-employment drug screening, and maintain eligibility throughout employment
- Valid driver's license with clean motor vehicle record.
- Willingness to travel 80% of work time within Florida territory, including overnight stays 3-4 nights per week
- Electrical troubleshooting skills using multimeters and diagnostic equipment to measure voltage, resistance, and continuity
Preferred Qualifications – Petroleum Equipment Technician
- Veeder-Root VeederTEC certification or Gilbarco dispenser systems certification
- API WorkSafe Contractor Safety certification or OSHA 10/30 training
- Florida UST Installer Registration or previous underground storage tank installation experience
- Experience with automatic tank gauging systems (TLS-350, TLS-450, Franklin TS-550) and fuel management software
- Agricultural background or general mechanical handiness with tools and equipment
Physical Requirements – Fuel Systems Technician
- Lift and carry equipment weighing 50+ pounds regularly; occasionally lift up to 75 pounds with assistance
- Stand, kneel, and work in confined spaces for extended periods during installations and repairs
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and humidity at customer job sites
- Climb ladders and work at heights up to 15 feet for dispenser canopy and equipment installations
- Travel 80% of work time within Florida, including overnight stays away from home base in Orlando
