AWS ENGINEER needed for a Permanent Full-Time position with a successful and growing equipment manufacturing and distribution company located in Raleigh, NC.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• AWS System Administration / Management, including security, user authorizations
• Linux administration (CentOS OR Ubuntu OR RedHat OR other) and Shell OR Bash scripting
• SQL Scripting for database management (MySQL OR Postgres OR Oracle Or SQL Server OR similar)
• Apache web server management
• VMware virtualization including physical and virtualized systems (Linux VMs)
• High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions.
• MS Active Directory
• EMC OR NetApp storage
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field

This position is a strategic role in managing the AWS environment and evaluating, architecting, implementing and supporting Linux technologies. This senior engineer will need expertise in AWS management, as well as Linux Red Hat and other operating systems in enterprise environments. The position will support the policies and procedures to promote continuous improvements to the quality of the products.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Deploying and managing scalable systems with high availability on AWS
• Maintain and create cloud instances, storage and other cloud services
• Manage security of the systems
• Provide support for AWS systems including monitoring and resolution of issues
• Daily interaction with Global team of programmers, developers & database administrators and ERP/QAD support staff. Progressive administration of the Progress database.
• Provides expert administrative and monitoring support of other Linux systems in physical and virtualized environments
• Daily maintenance of Backup/Restore and NetApp/EMC storage infrastructure including monitoring for system health, performance, security and capacity planning

TECHNICAL ENVIRONMENT

• AWS management, including security, user authorizations 3+ yrs. in AWS system administration
• Linux administration (CentOS, Ubuntu, RedHat)
• Database management (MySQL, Postgres or Oracle)
• Web server management
• Monitoring tools
• VMware virtualization and OS Deployment. Extensive knowledge and experience with physical and virtualized systems (Linux VMs) required. Experience with shell scripting required.
• Designing and implementing High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions. Experience interacting and co-existing with MS Active Directory and other technologies.
• EMC and NetApp storage.
• LAMP environments specifically on the Linux/Apache aspects.  Progress Database Administration experience a plus.
• AWS Management
• Network (Working knowledge of networking protocols and components including TCP/IP, DNS, NFS)
• Linux Admin Skills (File Permissions management, process monitoring, availability to write simple bash scripts, SSH authentication management, AD authentication management, CUPS management, System update management)
• QAD / Progress Skills (Releasing locked records, disconnecting dead connections, availability to run basic
• DBA commands (proserve/proshut/proutil/probkup/promon))
