    Full Charge Bookkeeper Job Description

    This position reports to the Director of Accounting and supports the firm Business Advisors. It requires expertise and proven skills in small business startups, bookkeeping, payroll, and tax reporting services. The ideal candidate will be able to perform full- charge bookkeeping duties, such as designing charts of accounts and financial reports for a wide range of business enterprises, analyzing transactions, and interacting with clients. This individual must be highly skilled in QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, and be highly organized, detail-oriented, accurate and proactive in their approach to work. Effective communication and customer service skills, and a pleasant demeanor are necessary in this position.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Establish and maintain the accounting systems of small business clients. This includes maintenance of the chart of accounts, financial report formats and databases.

    • Enter sales, cash receipts and disbursements, purchases, and payroll transactions.

    • Prepare and enter journal entries.

    • Perform general ledger and bank statement reconciliations.

    • Prepare trial balance and financial statements.

    • Process payroll and prepare payroll tax reports utilizing third party software.

    • Instruct clients in the use of QuickBooks and assist them in the resolution of program problems.

    • Support Business Advisors in maintaining budget information and preparing forecasts as required.

    • Maintain the Client Work-In-Progress in Firm360 Practice Management System, logging in all incoming work and checking off work elements as completed.

    • Maintain excellent client relations, responding promptly to communications and keeping clients informed of issues and the like.

    • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Accounting.

    Skills and Qualifications

    • Proficiency in QuickBooks.

    • Minimum of three years in public accounting.

    • Ability to set up small business accounting systems.

    • Ability to teach QuickBooks to clients and troubleshoot QuickBooks problems for them.

    • Accuracy and speed, while paying close attention to details.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

    • Ability to consistently meet client reporting schedules and time standards.

    • Work well in a team setting.

    • Excellent customer service skills.

    • Bi-lingual is a significant plus.

    • Minimum of an Associate of Accounting, or Business Administration Degree desired.

    • Certification from the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers (AIPB) or equivalent desired.

    • Certification in QuickBooks preferred.

    Compensation/Benefits for Full-time Permanent Employees

    • Hourly wage range of $20-25/hr DOE (non-exempt; eligible for overtime pay over 40 hours).

    • Bonus opportunities throughout the year ranging from 3-10% of annual pay, depending on company and individual performance.
