Job Description

The Heroku Developer is an IT professional responsible for developing secure server side API’s and services written in the Node.js language, and hosted on the Heroku platform. This role will be accountable for developing, monitoring and maintaining existing cloud integrations between Heroku and the Salesforce.com platform.

SALARY: Hourly, negotiable based on experience.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Contract

DURATION: 3 - 6 months, extendable. 8 hours/day PST availability with online meetings is required for this position.

LOCATION: Remote position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and deploy back end applications primarily on the Heroku platform as a Service (PaaS)

• Build, Improve and optimize the performance of complex applications hosted in Heroku

• Administration, patching and upkeep of the Company’s Heroku environment

• Maintenance and proper configuration of Heroku Postgres database instances

• Monitor and troubleshoot data synchronization processes via Salesforce / Heroku connect

• Optimize and maintain current Dyno utilization in the Salesforce Heroku environment

• Maintain and improve upon existing code hosted on the Heroku platform

• Collaborate with the Cloud architects, to understand data flows and class diagrams

• Work with the support team on the timely resolution of support requests

• Find improved ways to resolve application bugs and provide enhanced logging

• Create documentation for existing and new Salesforce / Heroku integrations

• Deployment of code via CI/CD pipelines

• Define and implement best practices, and recommends for the Heroku solutions

• Conduct design/code reviews during major project milestones

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience with Heroku administration and development

• Experience with user provisioning, dynos maintenance, querying Coralogix logs on Heroku

• Using Heroku Add-Ons or Heroku Elements for adding functionality to existing applications

• Working knowledge of Heroku Connect and Salesforce Connect is required

• Extensive experience with developing server-side applications and services using Node.js

• Strong understanding of message queuing mechanisms such as Kafka, SQS, Rabbit MQ

• Experience with databases hosted in the cloud such as Postgres and Microsoft SQL

• Previous experience with REST API integration in the cloud

• Professional certification in cloud development is required. Heroku architect certification is a plus.

• Deploying a code with a single command using developer tools like git, GitHub, and Docker

• Understanding of cloud based security protocols and flows such as OAuth 2.0, JWT, SAML

• Clear, professional communications (listening, oral and written communications)

• Strong relationship building and collaboration skills

• Demonstrated track record as a team player

• Well organized, detail oriented with ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while managing multiple concurrent tasks

• Must be able to obtain/maintain any necessary licenses and/or certifications
