What You'll Be Doing Regardless of whether you're seeking a full-time associate role or the flexibility of a part-time associate role, you'll handle a mix of estate planning, trust and probate administration, and business matters. We're growing fast, and we're looking for associates who can contribute meaningfully from day one. Compensation: Total compensation package for a full-time estate planning associate is between $100,000 - $120,000, which includes performance-based bonuses, health insurance, 401(k) with employer matching contributions, paid time off, continuing legal education, and bar dues. Compensation for an associate in a part-time role is dependent on agreed-upon weekly hours and hitting/exceeding KPIs, with opportunity for performance-based bonuses. Responsibilities: • Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, effectively analyzing the situation, and forming a strategy for a plan of action. • Prepare wills, trusts, and power of attorney documents. • Discuss plans with clients for distributing clients’ assets. • Stay sharp ; demonstrate the capacity and habits required to keep up with developments in estate and tax law. • Lead client consultations and deliver clear, strategic legal advice (no hiding behind legalese). • Draft and review comprehensive estate plans , including revocable trusts, irrevocable trusts, special needs trusts, and asset protection trusts. • Navigate probate and trust administration with compassion and confidence. • Represent clients in court on probate matters, including guardianship and conservatorship, when necessary. • Collaborate with paralegals and support staff. • Take ownership of your files, deadlines, communication, and outcomes. Qualifications: • At least 5 years of experience at a legal firm working on estate planning and probate law issues. • Must be licensed to practice law in Michigan.Understanding of a variety of real estate matters , including title insurance, wills and trusts, property management, and litigation. • Great communication skills , particularly in stressful and emotional situations. • Can confidently design and implement foundational estate plans and advanced estate planning strategies, or navigate probate--and can show us how you do it well. • Don't wait to be told what to do --you see what needs doing and get it done. • Know how to build rapport and trust with clients quickly and comfortably. • Be organized, accountable, and take prid e in producing excellent legal work. • Embrace growth, change, and continuous improvement --personally and professionally. Compensation: $100,000 - $120,000 yearly
