Charlotte’s Best Nanny Agency is assisting a family in Myers Park in finding a Full-Time Family Assistant for a family of 6, primarily providing House Management services and childcare for their 6 and 5-year-old children. They also have a 2-year-old and a 3-month-old who are cared for by a dedicated nanny.

The Family Assistant would typically be needed Monday - Thursday, 11:00 am - 7:00 pm, and 11:00 am - 5:30 / 6:00 pm on Fridays. The ideal candidate should be flexible to stay later when needed and be available for overnights when the parents travel (a few long weekends and up to a week twice a year).

The best Family Assistant would be a reliable, proactive, energetic, and someone who thrives in a busy household and can work collaboratively alongside the parents and the existing nanny. This role will primarily focus on household support and caring for the two older boys after school. The existing Nanny primarily cares for the younger children, a newborn, and a 2-year-old who attends half-day school three days per week. There will also be occasions when the Family Assistant will be asked to care for all 4 children or 3 children at a time. While the older children are at school, the Family Assistant should be able to anticipate the needs of the family and complete the household tasks listed below.

Key responsibilities include school pick-up between 3:30 pm and 4:30 pm, transporting the children to and from activities, and helping to “divide and conquer” logistics with the parents and Nanny during busy afternoons. Each day, the Family Assistant would be responsible for cleaning out the children’s backpacks and making sure they are ready for the next day of school and activities. This will include laying out their uniforms and ensuring their sports bags are ready to go. The ideal candidate is active and engaged, encouraging outdoor play and neighborhood socialization, as the children frequently play with nearby friends. It is important that the Family Assistant reinforce manners and positive behavior, and support reading and basic homework. When time allows, the assistant will plan outings, such as trips to the playground, pool, Discovery Place, and other age-appropriate activities.

    Childcare Responsibilities Include:

    • Meeting the daily scheduling needs of the children

    • Engaging with the children on an age-appropriate level

    • Engaging the children in fun activities both inside and outside the home

    • Picking the children up from school and taking them to activities
