Part-Time Family Assistant for a Family of Four in the Myers Park Neighborhood of Charlotte

Charlotte, NC

Charlotte’s Best Nanny Agency is assisting a family in the Sherwood Forest neighborhood in finding a Family Assistant for their family of 4, including two children, 12 and 14 years old. The Family Assistant would be needed Monday - Thursday, 2:30 pm - 7:30 pm, a total of 20 hours a week. The family asks that the Family Assistant be flexible for schedule changes on occasion.

The best Family Assistant for this family would be someone who thrives on keeping a busy household organized and running smoothly. It is important that the Family Assistant is able to move fluidly between child-related tasks (mostly transportation) and home management tasks.

Each day, the Family Assistant would come in and help with any Household Management tasks needed, then help with after-school transportation logistics for the children. The children are involved in sports throughout the year and have to be picked up or taken to practices at various times. The Family Assistant would also be responsible for encouraging the fairly self-sufficient children to complete their chores and ensure they are prepared for the next day of school. Reliability and flexibility are key, as school pickups and activity schedules can shift, and the Family Assistant will need to be ready to pick the children up from school and practice, and after sporting events when needed.

As time allows and the Family Assistant is at the home, they should assist in keeping the home tidy, organized, and running smoothly, with items returned to their proper place. This role also involves home vendor scheduling, delivery management, basic meal prep or starting/heating dinner as needed, grocery shopping, dry cleaning management, and prescription pick-ups. The dad works from home (in a dedicated home office) but travels frequently. So the Family Assistant must be comfortable with a parent who works from home when not traveling for work. Overall, the family is looking for a proactive, self-directed Family Assistant who can keep the home running smoothly, anticipate the needs of the family, and adapt easily to changes in the school and activity schedules.
