    About the Role

    We’re seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant / Bookkeeper to oversee and maintain accurate financial records for a restaurant management company that operates multiple Taco Boy locations. This position plays a key role in ensuring timely reporting, accurate payroll and reconciliation processes, and operational support across all restaurants.

    You’ll join an accounting team of three (Controller + two Accountants/Bookkeepers) and work closely with our operations leaders. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is ready to grow within an organization that values both precision and people.

    Key Responsibilities

    Accounting & Reporting

    Perform general cost accounting and related duties to maintain financial accuracy.

    Prepare monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss reports.

    Post journal entries, code invoices, reconcile accounts, and close monthly books.

    Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure compliance with GAAP principles.

    Prepare and process annual 1099 forms for vendors.

    Support annual audit preparation and respond to auditor inquiries.

    Payroll & Reconciliation

    Process payroll for multiple restaurant locations.

    Reconcile POS to general ledger, bank accounts, accounts payable, and payroll accounts.

    Verify deposits, cash disbursements, and vendor payments.

    Operations & Systems Support

    Collaborate with operations leaders to provide financial insights and resolve discrepancies.

    Manage purchasing and invoicing systems.

    Conduct new manager admin training and provide ongoing accounting system support.

    Coordinate with software vendors (e.g., Restaurant365) to maintain system functionality and recommend updates or improvements.

    Compliance & Analysis

    Monitor and analyze cash flow to support business decisions.

    File tax forms and reports with federal, state, and local agencies.

    Maintain knowledge of current accounting standards and industry best practices.

    Qualifications

    Education & Experience

    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.

    3–5 years of accounting or finance experience (restaurant or hospitality experience strongly preferred).

    Technical Skills

    Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel: pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas).

    Experience with Restaurant365 ERP highly preferred.

    Strong understanding of cash basis and GAAP accounting.

    Soft Skills

    Excellent communication and organizational skills.

    Strong attention to detail with a problem-solving mindset.

    Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

    Work Schedule & Location

    Standard hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST, Monday through Friday.

    Occasional after-hours support during close periods or system updates.

    Remote work available for candidates based in Charleston, SC; Charlotte, NC; Asheville, NC or surrounding areas.

    Quarterly travel may be required for in-person team meetings.

    Compensation & Benefits

    Salary Range: $50,000 – $65,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
