Overview
he Community Engagement Specialist strengthens relationships between the organization and the communities it serves. This role focuses on building trust, increasing awareness of programs and services, and ensuring community voices are reflected in organizational decisions. The specialist works directly with residents, partners, and stakeholders to foster meaningful engagement and support positive outcomes, including managing the agency’s social media presence to enhance outreach and communication.
In addition, this position requires flexibility to engage clients throughout the admission process, including conducting intakes, facilitating level‑of‑care determinations, completing screenings, and supporting program orientation groups.
Key Responsibilities
Community Outreach & Relationship Building • Develop and maintain strong relationships with community members, local organizations, and stakeholders. • Represent the organization at community events, meetings, and outreach activities. • Identify community needs, concerns, and opportunities through direct engagement and feedback gathering. • Social Media and Marketing • Conduct initial intake session for the detoxification clinic and assess the clients appropriateness for services • Monitor internal tracking systems
Program Support & Coordination • Assist in planning, promoting, and implementing community‑focused programs, workshops, and events. • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure programs are accessible, culturally responsive, and aligned with community priorities. • Track participation, outcomes, and engagement trends to inform program improvements. Communication & Advocacy • Serve as a liaison between the organization and the community, ensuring clear, respectful, and timely communication. • Share information about available services, resources, and initiatives. • Elevate community perspectives to leadership to support equitable decision‑making.

Data & Reporting • Document outreach activities, community interactions, and engagement metrics. • Prepare reports summarizing community needs, engagement outcomes, and recommendations. • Maintain accurate records in compliance with organizational and funding requirements.
Qualifications • Experience in community outreach, social services, public health, education, or related fields. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with diverse populations. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast‑paced environments. • Cultural humility and a commitment to equity‑centered engagement. • Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus, depending on community needs.
