    The Opportunity

    We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Fund Accountant to join our growing investment operations team in St. Louis. This role is designed for a technical professional who thrives in a fast-paced financial environment and is looking to build a career in private equity, venture capital, or hedge fund accounting.

    You will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations of our investment vehicles, ensuring that Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations, investor reporting, and financial statements are delivered with total precision. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to complex investment structures while working in a collaborative, professional environment in one of the Midwest’s key financial hubs.

    Core Responsibilities

    1\. Fund Accounting & NAV Production

    • Daily Operations: Perform daily accounting functions for assigned funds, including recording investment transactions, reconciling bank accounts, and tracking income and expenses.

    • NAV Calculation: Assist in the production of monthly and quarterly Net Asset Values (NAV), ensuring all portfolio valuations and fee accruals are accurate.

    • General Ledger: Maintain the general ledger for multiple fund entities, performing complex reconciliations and ensuring all entries adhere to GAAP.

    2\. Investor Services & Distributions

    • Capital Tracking: Process capital calls and distribution notices, ensuring investor records are updated and funds are moved accurately across accounts.

    • Waterfall Analysis: Support the calculation of distribution waterfalls and carried interest in accordance with fund legal documents.

    • Inquiry Management: Assist in responding to investor inquiries regarding statements, tax documentation, and fund performance.

    3\. Audit & Tax Support

    • Audit Preparation: Work closely with the Senior Fund Accountant and Associate Director to prepare workpapers and documentation for annual fund audits.

    • Tax Coordination: Assist in the gathering of data for the preparation of Schedule K-1s and annual tax filings.

    • Compliance: Ensure all accounting activities remain compliant with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.

    4\. Systems & Process Improvement

    • Data Integrity: Maintain accurate data within our fund accounting software and internal reporting tools.

    • Efficiency Gains: Identify opportunities to streamline manual workflows through automation or improved use of Excel and accounting platforms.

    The Ideal Profile

    • Professional Experience: 1–3 years of accounting experience. Previous exposure to fund accounting, audit, or financial services is preferred but not required for high-potential candidates.

    • Technical Skills: * Strong understanding of basic accounting principles (Debits/Credits, Financial Statements).

      • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables).

      • Exposure to fund accounting software (e.g., Investran, Allvue, or MRI) is a plus.

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required; pursuit of a CPA is encouraged.

    • Attributes: Exceptional attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
