    We are a busy Immigration Law Firm located in Midtown/Edgewater location, looking for a kickass, highly organized, paralegal/ legal assistant with excellent communication skills, tech savviness, and an upbeat attitude. Candidates should be able to help our attorney and paralegals be more efficient and organized to assist our clients and ensure they receive the service they deserve. You'll help organize immigration petitions, filling out government forms, and researching legal issues along with other administrative tasks. To be successful as an Legal Assistant, candidates should be professional, polite, and attentive while also being accurate. They should always be prepared and responsive, willing to meet each challenge directly. Responsibilities: Handle office correspondence and administrative tasks such as responding to emails and phone calls, communicating with opposing attorney offices, taking dictation, and letting the team know about upcoming deadlines Ensure client billing is processed properly using daily time records with assistance from the accounting department • Under the supervision of attorneys, prepare immigration forms, applications, and supporting documents; • Conduct intakes, by phone and in person, and interview clients to gather or clarify information; • Provide support to VAWA unit and other staff as needed • Translate documents; • Establish, organize and maintain files; Maintain document control, tracking and tracing; review case files; Qualifications: Some college is preferred; high school diploma or equivalent is required Comfortable working with all Microsoft Office products • Experience with immigration law and the general knowledge of the US immigration system. Any experience with VAWA petitions or Immigration Waivers or family petitions (forms I-130, I-1485, I-765) is preferred • Applicants must be able to read, write, and speak Spanish at a native or fluent level. Portuguese is a plus Compensation: $14 - $16 hourly
