    Job Description

    Are you an experienced Software Engineer with a passion for engineering and architecting complete system solutions?

    We are looking for a talented engineer to jump in with our team and help drive forward innovative approaches that will improve and enhance existing systems and their capabilities in multiple operational environments!

    This is an opportunity to have far reaching impact on mission-critical operator systems and provide leadership to a growing development team. Your technical experience will be key to system development and successful implementation. Working closely with the Project Manager and rest of the team, this position will manage the technical aspects of an innovative Navy remote monitoring system that provides a variety of communications capabilities including voice, tactical data, and IP data.

    Ideal candidates will have a background in SW design and will be experienced in C++, Python, web, networking, linux OS. Expert level experience in the previous list is not required – we are looking for a generalist with an inquisitive mind that can adapt and learn new things quickly with the ability to think big picture enterprise level solutions. This position offers a unique opportunity to leverage past programming experience to design an enterprise software system that will be deployed globally both onshore and at sea.

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manage a software engineering team, including overseeing scheduling and project management
    • Analyze, troubleshoot, and test complex software
    • Engage with the customer and end-user to understand and deliver key features and system requirements
    • Apply your leadership to the design, implementation, and support of dynamic software systems
    • Develop test plans and support test plan execution
    • Engage directly with customer on technical interchange meetings and requirements development
    • System integration and testing
    • System architecture and design documentation
    • Define and track system requirements and specifications
    • Translate customer requirements into system specifications
    • Leverage industry experts to find solutions to complex problems
    • Analyze test data, develop test reports, system diagrams, technology briefs and presentation
    • Lead system level sprints and scrums
    • Manage and plan technical roadmap
    • Provide on-site and distance operational support
    • Travel will be required for software installation and/or test support

     

    CANDIDATE CORE COMPETENCIES:

    REQUIRED:

    • Experience leading teams in the engineering development, testing and deployment of complex systems
    • Experience with software development efforts, either as systems engineer or software engineer
    • Ability to perform under pressure without assistance
    • Three years of experience with U.S. Navy or other armed services warfare programs or systems
    • Experience with or knowledge of programming languages and operating systems
    • Eligibility and willingness to obtain a US SECRET Clearance

    HIGHLY DESIRED:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Scientific or related Technical Field from an accredited college and minimum six years equivalent experience or Graduate Degree and a minimum of four years equivalent experience
    • Experience prioritizing and managing tasks/features in an agile development environment
    • VMWare Certification
    • Knowledge of Navy Command, Control, Communications, and Information Systems (C4IR) or other relevant experience in system design, testing, and analysis
    • Experience with Navy Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Information Systems (C4IR)
    • Experience with DoD Security Technical Implementation Guidelines
    • Experience in agile, professional software development environments utilizing revision control, test driven development and continuous integration
