    JOB SUMMARY & PURPOSE

    Toms Guide is seeking an experienced editor to manage our ever-growing phone coverage. This editor will write and edit reviews of key products, including Android phones and iPhones, while regularly updating and maintaining a range of critical buying guides to give our audience the best recommendations possible. The phones editor will be responsible for commissioning content to both freelancers and in-house writers, staying on top of news within the category, and maintaining relationships with key product vendors. The ideal candidate will also be someone with a strong editorial voice and a true passion for the category that can help Toms Guide stand out with original stories and thoughtful analysis.

    KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Reviewing phones and editing phone reviews.
    • Maintaining several key phone-related buying guides through regular updates.
    • Write and edit phone news, regularly maintaining rumor hubs for most anticipated products.
    • Commissioning news, reviews and feature content to both freelancers and junior staffers.
    • Brainstorming thoughtful analysis and opinion coverage to help Toms Guide stand out.
    • Assisting with deals coverage, especially during critical shopping seasons.
    • Tracking the performance of Toms Guides phones channel and working with your editor to respond to traffic trends.
    • Shoot photos for reviews and work with video team to create videos for key product reviews
    • Youll have a passion for the data side of web editing and closely monitor and interpret performance and trends

    REQUIREMENTS

    ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • At least 3 years of related experience at an online media outlet, as well as experience reviewing phones
    • Experience managing freelancers and monthly budget management
    • Experience researching SEO trends and analyzing traffic
    • Proven ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams
    • Strong industry contacts are a major plus
    • A desire to develop and grow the Phones channel using innovative ideas and keeping abreast of industry developments and trends.
    • Ability to work in a wider team
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Experience promoting stories via cross-linking and social media
